waiting for it to get bad enough I can go home....
and I thought it was a snowicane? -
1. Did a costco run last weekend.
2. Parked the car last night in a wednesday spot.
3. "working" from home
4. Beer and mixers in the fridge.
And the correct term is snowmageddon. -
It is a hot mess outside and my doctor called to confirm my appt with him at 5:30pm today. I wanted to tell him I cant make it but if he lives in Connecticut and works at Methodist and is willing to hang around then I feel guilty not trekking through the neighborhood to get there so I will make the appt.
-
Eating my way through house and home. Making popcorn while waiting for the meltdown on the ASS parking thread. Drinking. Bravo TV marathon.
That about covers it. -
Shoveling. I am shoveling. Damnit.
-
Husband did shoveling... or shall we call it slush pushing to the side. It didn't help all that much because it is still coming down heavy.
I am having a glass of wine and waiting for students who will probably not show up.
It is rude to not at least call to cancel! -
I find that if I let the shoveling go past 2-hour intervals, it's ridiculously heavy and also tramped-down. I did try salt, but that was wholly ineffective for this stupid milkshake falling from the sky.
-
Milkshake is a good way to describe it. I just had to go outside because I left my wine in the car (damn!)
-
Just watching Channel 4 - trees are coming down in the city. One just killed a guy on the UES and a tree came down on top of a bus in the city. It's really heavy snow. Be careful shoveling out there.......no heart attacks for Brooklynians!
-
yep Ljnd.. I just went out and shoveled again. As the temp drops that layer will be ice and then the snow on top of that.. dangerous...
-
Ch. 7 just interviewed a bunch of people and Ariciebo on 5th Ave.
-
HAHA, Flexi, if MY milkshake brought all the boys to the yard, I WOULD MAKE THEM SHOVEL.
Veets, I just don't know what to do if halite won't work on the ice. This is some seriously obnoxious precipitation. -
I'm currently waiting for a client to come over (secretly hoping she would reschedule but hey, she's coming to me...) then I will be anxiously checking my schools facebook page all night in hopes of canceled classssss
-
Carmen, are you at BMCC? My boyfriend teaches there and man, they are never closed.
-
No, I go to a cosmetology school in the city. We never close though, either, because we have to make up every hour we miss per the state (if we go home early, we all have to stay a halfday at the end of our term, for example...) they're really strict about it.
-
Oh, jeez. I am so sorry. Bleah.
-

Maybe you need to take your milkshake out to the yard and see if they boys come, then push a shovel in their hands -
ABC just said that the parks department is warning people to stay out of the parks because tree limbs are falling down

it sucks, but somehow moving slush across the curb was way easier then the times it was a foot of snow. -
this was the hardest shovel of the season. By far. Ew.
-
I just spoke to my daughter who lives in Massachusetts. If you live in New England you expect to really have a winter. What a reversal. It is 40 degrees up there and raining. I visited last week and it was remarkable how little snow was on the ground and how little their accumulated snowfall has been.
This winter we are catching the worst of it.
I give up.. am not going out to shovel agan.
I am happy, dry and warm.
Let it snow. -
Flexi, I think that's my new plan. Cause doing it myself is getting old.
-
My back hurts! Shoveling wet heavy snow off a front stoop is no fun...
-
Seriously, people, be careful.....my dad had his first heart attack shoveling in that huge snow/ice/snow storm back in '79. He was 45
-
trust me... I am careful to pace myself. I am well aware of my lousy physical condition. I could be a poster child for heart failure..
-
I put on my rain boots and went through with my day just fine because for once it's really useful to live in a city where you can walk (through puddles without getting my feet wet) and then use the subway, and not have to drive or shovel.
-
I like shoveling snow...used to take care of a building. Alas, I have tendinitis and nerve damage on my forearms and tried to do it with a brace and ouch.
There are folks who are supposed to shovel but they are at work all day.
I used to trudge home and shovel but as the years went by I started paying someone. Now I have to remind caretaker to shovel.
I think slurpie is the right description. I left the house at 7AM walked 7th ave, cooped it and came home,. ate lunch and then bused it to 13th street and walked again, Took a bus back to ProHo and sat in a very wet seat. Slush is every where. Oh, and if you have a heart, shoveling the drains is important in this type of snow and also shoveling your curve. When this type of stuff freezes, look out.
The last snow was more fun. Night! -
Meant "shoveling your curb"...guess the milkshake got to me.
