How to find partners to buy in the neighborhood?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a forum for people who are looking to potentially partner up to buy a small building in the neighborhood? i.e. somewhere to meet other people looking to partner up and talk about the ins and outs of doing it? I am not a broker or big time investor, just looking to upgrade my rent to a mortgage, but prefer to share a brownstone than buy one of those silly new condos. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

  • buying something with a stranger=bad idea
  • You'd better have an airtight partnership agreement drafted by real estate lawyer at the ready.
  • People do this all the time and it's fine. A good real estate lawyer is definitely in order. I can recommend one if you need.

You may also consider buying a multifamily property and renting part of it out. With an FHA loan you can put down as little as 3.5%. This can be an even better investment.
