  • Judy (Giordano) Banjany wrote: Hi guys - Well I am sitting here with so much quilt.....I did not go see my mom yesterday and today my husband and kids are going to get their taxes done.....so I will not be going today either. Yesterday when I was in AC I was also feeling guilty, because I knew that my mom would never be able to go there again and do something that she enjoyed so much. There were so many times when Bobby and I would meet her down there and me and my mom would run out of money and we would go on the 5 cent machines and not know what the hell was going on (those machines are crazy), but we would have so much fun, just playing them and see that we were winning without even knowing what the hell we were doing lol . I am going to miss those times so much........ Ok just had to vent sorry!!!!!
don't feel guilty at all. sometimes we need time out away from
our daily life and situations...Your Mom would not want u to feel
that way...I remember when David was very sick i thought people might
have thought Wow she is dancing at a school dinner while her husband is
sick...Well..I am different. I always tried to keep my life as much as normal at that time to keep my sanity. Sooooo u must go to ac once in awhile and go out and live a normal life as much as possible. You are always there for Lorraine and she knows it...Just my 2 cents as usual

  • Thanks for the "get well" wishes, I am feeling so much better, wow, that sinus infection really threw me for a loop!! I'm still trying to figure out how I got sick. I do know that two mornings in a row, I did not have any heat in my office, good way to get sick.

Because I was sick and at home, all I ate were "comfort" foods, ALL CARBS!! I really did not have a appetite but the tea/toast, rice and oatmeal was enough for me. This week, I do plan to get some meat and greens in my system!!!!

Not bad outside today, 50 degrees and the sun is out. Monday night is another story, we don't know if it will be rain or snow.
  • Hey Jeanette, NO you can't hide!!!!

Helen, how is your husband, I hope it's good news.

Anthony, sounds like you are on the right track!!!!

Judy, I think we ALL get that "guilty" feeling, it's natural, but you really do need to make time for yourself. We only live once, enjoy it while we're here, we don't know what tomorrow will bring. Sure are nice memories of you and your mom in AC, I'm sure she would want to hear all about your trip!
  • TERRY, NICE PIC OF MIKE AND THE GUYS, GREAT THAT THEY WERE ALL ABLE TO GET IN THE PHOTO!!!

Jerry, As soon as we get some warm weather I will enjoy it. Coldest winter in Florida in many. many years.
Yes our childhoods were full of "special" things but those special things had to be inexpensive. I always said that what made our block (12th Street) so great was that nobody had a pot to ---- in but we really enjoyed what we had. When you stop and consider how hard it was for your parents to come up with a nickle for an ice cream, it really meant something. One day my Father came home from deep sea fishing on a boat out of Sheepshead Bay. He went with a group. He had a burlap bag (remember them) full of mackrel. We lived in an apartment house at the time. EVERYONE in the building had fish for supper that night. Took about a week to get the smell out of the halls. My Father would not take a penny from anyone for the fish.:wink:
