November 4, Wednesday, 9:00 February 3, Wednesday, 9:00

November 17, Tuesday, 10:00 February 18, Thursday, 10:00

Application deadline: April 1, 2010 for 2010-2011 school year (Grades K, 1 and 2). There are still a few open seats, and they are still accepting applications for 2009-2010.

The Ethical Community Charter School or TECCS opened this year for Kindergarten and 1st grade. The school's charter extends to 12th grade and each year 2 new Kindergarten classes of 20 children will be accepted by lottery. The school resides in District 14 so preference in the lottery will be given to students in that district as per city regulations, but there are students from other districts.

From one of the parents:
"There are 2 teachers per class for K and 1st, and a 2nd teacher half days for 2nd grade (next year). All the children have Music, Spanish and Gym 3 times per week outside the home classroom and literacy, math, science and social studies in their classroom. As well as recess 3x per day. The school day is a little longer, 8-4, but in our experience it's more relaxed with more time to explore, more stimulating, engaging and fun than the packed shorter days he had last year."

  • I just wanted to bump this because one of the tours is tomorrow. If people are still looking for a school for their kids, it's a good time to check the school out.
