Anyone see a PLOW or even a STREET SWEEPER? — Brooklynian

Anyone see a PLOW or even a STREET SWEEPER?

What's the deal with Alternate Side being reinstated in snow conditions if they're not going to clean the streets? Isn't this the reason for Alt Side to begin with? We know the actual reason is more closely related to revenue, no? I sat in my car for the 90 mins today making phone calls and never once saw a sweeper or a plow. Saw the ticket brigade twice run the block though.

  • Driving roads/streets in PS are all clean, time to dig out your car and get back at it. At least where I live, not sure what section of PS you live.
  • Dug car out. Got back at it. 3rd St between 6th/7th not back at it.
  • That's too bad, I'm actually looking forward to alt side because my N.PS section is littered with last week's, not picked up, trash scattered amongst the snow and curb. I can see how this can be very annoying though. Sounds like next week will be warm, hopefully spring comes soon!
  • The trash is another story! I have stopped thinking about dragging it out. If there's enough to shovel, they're not coming!
  • They were plowing parking spots along 6th Avenue from 4th
street on down at about 11;15 am today
  • they plowed in WT yesterday. I think they did today as well. I am sure they gave tickets
  • i agree...dont see the point of suspending alt side when street cleaning didnt occur nor garbage pickup on my block here in Clinton Hill.
  • My street (54th in Sunset Park) was plowed today during the No Parking hours. Tomorrow the other side of the street, hopefully. And if I am really fortunate they will pick up the trash as well. Snowless streets and no trash-heaven!

What? Plowing cars in? On 6th Ave? There's not Alt side there Mondays on 6th Ave.
  • No, not plowing cars in, moving snow away. I was on my way to the store and saw it happening. And, sorry, I meant to say I saw them at 3rd Street heading down which according to my alternate side map, is a Monday street cleaning. The plow was in front of Rompal plowing snow towards 2nd Street.
  • Yeah I saw that side done last night. More plows out this morning. Maybe it was Monday blues.
I just found it interesting that sitting there for the full alternate side there was no sign of "cleaning". For the most part, NYC does do an amazing job putting the shit together. I do feel for the old and infirm on days when the cars are still behind a fair amount of snow and have to be moved.
  • Roadify was digging people out for free. Also, I know a few people who will dig your car out for 25 bucks, so, there are ways to get your car out without having to do it yourself.
  • I just had to move for ASS. Plows came and took the snow into the middle of the street. Surprisingly, one car had not moved and it was not ticketed. Yesterday all of the cars that did not move received tickets. Glad to see the plows out for the third day in a row. If I am going to move it, I hope that they are either sweeping or plowing....and they were.
