My 11 year old daughter has been taking lessons there from Greg Roberts and she is getting GOOD!
$25 - one on one for a half hour. Couldn't recommend it more. -

This is just my opinion but I make it as a music teacher (30 years experience).
I don't get how 1/2 hr.of instruction a week is enough time to teach in an effective way. I start 5 year olds with 45 minutes. Of course at home , focused practice time, with parental supervision (for young kids) is a key to learning how to play and the amount of time varies depending on the level of the student, age and ability to focus.
But at a lesson there needs to be enough time for a student (child or adult) to present material and enough time for the teacher to provide "new' material or material related to problems encountered from previous assignments.
Just saying that I would advise people to not go "cheap" but to find a good teacher that offers at least 45 minute lessons. -
ditto what veets said. ive been teaching 30 yrs too and 30 mins is not an appropriate amount of time for a lesson. 45 mins is the way to go. cheap doesnt mean good by the way, it usually means cheap, just as it says. word of mouth and or hearing a student from a teacher is most useful to find a good music teacher. beware of a method book teacher. you will fizz out in no time and lose interest.

Subject: the internet
Online is some great guitar lessons: check on youtube for people covering songs you like, and lessons in general, and then there's www.guitarnoise.com which has some really great david hodge beginner lessons.
That should get you started. -
Frankly, if it were just as easy to learn how to play an instrument as it is to learn your way around a pc then everyone who picked up a guitar and figured out how to get on line would sound like Eric Clapton or Segovia. Tis not true. Cheap solution, for sure but finding a good teacher is now and has always been, the way to learn how to play.
The computer age has changed many things but not the magic of teaching and learning in a one to one human setting.
