Cablevision wrote: Due to the disruption ABC has caused, Cablevision invites you to enjoy our entire slate of on demand movies at no charge today, Sunday March 7th. To order, go to the iO TV main menu, select On Demand, then Movies on Demand, then choose your movie.

We are working hard to get WABC-7 back on the air. You can help make a difference by visiting cablevision.com/abc and sending their executives an email expressing how you feel.

Thank you for your patience, while we continue to negotiate a deal that is fair for everyone.

Customer's bills will show a credit for Movies on Demand ordered on Sunday, March 7th. A digital cable box is required for On Demand. On Demand is not available to Commercial customers.

  • great news!!!
  • NOT Great News!

Went to order a movie -- said it couldn't be done and to call this number. We called. and called. it's BUSY. Not "you're on hold" - but flat out busy.

Meaning they say we can get free movies but we actually can't. Ugh!
  • How did it say it could not be done?

They turned off Movies On Demand?

    We just watched one...

    :-k

What are you seeing when you go in to pick a movie?
  • By the way, I'm streaming the Oscars full-screen, live over the internet anyway...

  • Got the same error message. Tried to order a movie and it failed to upload. tried several times......

tried calling cablevision and got a busy signal.
  • My coworkers have been calling/texting me with the same problem -- it says "error, can't process this at this time, call xxx" and then we do and it's busy.

I then called the annoying-song commercial number (877-393-4448) and it said "due to an influx of calls, we cannot answer your call" and HUNG UP. I wasn't even on hold - they just hung up.

ABC is back on, apparently, but I am going to call and bitch them out as soon as I can get through. You want $100 a month from me? Then provide me with the services I'm paying for.
  • Wow, looks like their marketing department totally overcommitted 'em and they utterly failed on all levels.

    Major oops.
  • Yeah, I had the same experience. It was frustrating.
  • Same here.....none of the movies were working for us. so annoying!
  • So glad I got rid of cable. Cablevision's service is worthless. Thankfully their internet has been pretty reliable for about 2 months now.
  • Response to the failed (free movies) response:
CABLEVISION / ABC Debacle - $10 customer CREDIT! via phone
To my fellow Cablevision customers who had to deal with the Cablevision/ABC disaster on Sunday, March 7th 2010:

Cablevision was offering FREE On Demand movies on 3/7/2010 to make up for the fact that ABC pulled their channel and caused subscribers to miss much of the Academy Awards. However, if you tried to play a movie then you probably already know that it was impossible, and the whole system was overloaded. If you take just 5 mins to call Cablevision customer service, they will automatically credit your account with $10.00 as an apology.

I just got off the phone with a rep, and all I had to mention is that I couldn't play any movie yesterday, and she offered the $10 immediately.
Call 732-548-2400 from anywhere and you should get the credit easily, once you get through.
Now watch. Their phone lines will be overloaded.

    Ha.
