    She said refridarated.
  • I was walking by a couple of weeks ago and heard this loud hum and realized it was coming from their vent on the side of the building. I thought at the time that this must really suck for people living next to it...guess I was right.

Sorry, the place sucks. My wife and I love looking at their "daily specials" board. Who wouldn't want some of their frozen salmon or shrimp over dried pasta with jarred tomato sauce? MMM---mmm bad.

My wife thinks it's a money laundering front because there is no way they are making money. Every time I walk by the place is empty.

OpussumQueen, who are these riff-raff you're talking about?
  • It might be noisy but we have never noticed the smell and are definitely neighbors.

I won't name names, but the kid lives around here and he and his buddies have caused all kinds of trouble. I know at least a few of us that are used to them assumed that they started the fire that burned the car a while back. I've caught them shooting bbs or pellets at windows in the homes (including ours) from their backyard and the street. There's more but I don't feel like getting myself all pissed off at them again by describing it :)

As for the food at Kohzee, it's okay but not special. I've had some really good soup and the desserts are good unless they keep them too long. I walk by there many times a day and while there are slow moments, there are plenty of times that every table is taken. That doesn't mean they aren't laundering money, but people are eating there.

I feel safer at night with a business there, that stays open fairly late, so just for that I hope they stay open.
  • I think I've seen these overly-privileged white kids sitting on a stoop around there talking shit...they must be upset they're parents have money and they're going to good schools. I'd be pissed at the world too.

    1. The vent to the restaurant in NOT on the roof of the building it is on the back of their builiding- so the entire blocks' stink of exhaust, and the fan is so bloody loud that it impossible to even be outside. When we have apprroached the owners they say " Oh, just come over and we will turn the fan off for you". WHAT move the fan to the roof- oh wait your landlord won't like that because he has renters with a deck!

    2. The smell of the exhaust seeps into all of our homes. We have complained over and over again- and once again the owner says " Can I come over and smell your house?" NO fix it. The owner is ok, but his sleezy helper at night is aggressive and incredibly skeezy as he smokes his cigarettes and talks on the phone in front of the place all day long.

    3. Ketchup. Needs to be refriderated. I walk my dog every night and every morning only to see that when they are closed they leave the ketchup on the tables at night. Please, for the sake of the few suckers out there who pay for the horid service- it needs to be refridarated.

    4. What a shame, what a perfect corner. The amount of money they put into that place for flat screen TV's playing NY1 and booths only to serve diner food- what? Simple Ikea sofas, chairs, NO TV, to sleezy men on the corner at 11pm every night, and a little pandora music- kablam a park slope seller. Wrong neighborhood.

    5. Health Department, Fire Department, and Enviormental Protection Services are all involved now.

What exactly is the 'exhaust' from? Perhaps running all their 'refridaraters'? You know what's also 'sleezy'? Your 'horid' spelling. Once you're off the phone reporting this poor struggling business to all the relevant govnt. departments, why don't you ring the spelling police?
  • Subject: spelling vs. sleeze?

I find it amazing that whoever insulted the bad speller actually doesn't care how OUR neighborhood OUR block is losing value and respect.

I am one of the worse spellers, and am proud to admit it. Please- stop the slander and focus of the big picture.

About 10 or more years ago there was a deli on the corner and it closed down because of rats in the building. Then the owner of the building built a roof deck to increase value to the building/charge more for rent. NOW a diner with the vent NOT on the roof andnot only causing pollution to the neighbors its down right ILLEGAL. Walk down 7th street and look in the kitchen/basement you can see from the street how dirty it is. They should either have a screen door so bugs/dirt will not go on the visible food being prepared, or just clean it.

For the sleezy owner/ his name is Mike greasy slimy hair always in front smoking a cigarette on the phone- never seen the man smile- EVER.

As for ketchup- open your fridge read the bottle it clearly states what you need to do after opening!

So, stop insulting people who actually invest in this block and neighborhood, and look at the big picture. They have a vent which is not on the roof causing horrible odors, noise, and pollution. They have a dirty exposed kitchen, and they care about making money NOT the community.

I won't comment on the food issues since I haven't been there in a couple of months, but I need to comment on the sentence above. This owner Mike you're talking about could not have possibly been any nicer to my fiancee and I whenever we've been there, starting with the first day they opened up and with every subsequent time we ate there.

You sound like a pretty sleazy, slimy asshole yourself, assuming anything about this guy just because you're not a fan of the place. Try actually talking to someone before insulting them needlessly, and classlessly.
  • A commercial vent anywhere but to the roof is illegal.
  • I have to agree with blevine. I was there a few times in December and January and the owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and got what we wanted. As a large party had arrived shortly before we got there he comped a hot chocolate to my son.

I have no comment on the vent issue.

I think the point is that if you are going to come here and write a long, nasty rant about a local business, then at least take the time to check your spelling. It's the least you can do.

    Fined for what, exactly?
  • [quote="pastoralia"]Stopped in for coffee with our six pound pooch in our arms...no complaints from the owners which means I'll be back.

that is why. no offense but DOGS do not belong in a food establishment!

DEP ( department of enviormental protection) also fined them.
  • Brooklyn7, you are setting yourself up for some nasty karma.

    All I'm saying.
