Subject: anyone know what's up with empty storefront on 1st near 7th?

the location i'm talking about is on 1st street, one door down from to the large import store that sells rugs, jewelry, VERY expensive wooden furniture on the corner of 7th Ave and 1st street; across from PS 321 and next to (on the side the import store's not on) what seems to be a now-defunct car service.

it used to advertise itself as a psychic, and for a while over the winter it appeared that it was inhabited by a family of three - parents and a little kid, plus and an oft-escaping little dog, which was not the same little dog that lives in the import store next door the name of which is escaping me. the family seemed to actually be living in the storefront.

then one day they were gone, a hole was smashed in the glass storefront window and the grate was pulled down. the inside is darkened.

does anyone know the place i'm talking about and what happened? did i imagine this whole scenario?

  • The car service closed first, several months ago. The psychic was there until more recently. I don't think the businesses were related. There used to be an internet cafe on the right side of the storefront before the psychic. They probably all went out of business.
  • any knowledge about the family & escapist dog that seemingly lived in the psychic storefront? that dog was always scaring me, not because i'm scared of dogs but because he seemed unaware of the street nearby and his owners didn't seem to keep good track of him.
  • I thought the dog (little dog) belonged at the furniture store. Were there two dogs roaming that corner?
  • The store has 2 miniature pinschers.
