Meet Hazel the Cat — Brooklynian

Meet Hazel the Cat

This is Hazel. I found her recently in an empty lot in Prospect Heights, apparently abandoned, among a colony of feral cats. I'd love to keep her but I've already got four of my own!

Hazel is sweet as pie. If cuddling were an Olympic sport, she'd be a gold medalist. She just wants to hang out with you and snuggle, but she's also laid back enough to give you space if you need it.

If you're looking for a quiet, warm companion, she would love to meet you!

Hazel gets along great with people and other cats. She's healthy, up to date on shots, and has been spayed. Please consider adopting or fostering this little lady.

  • She is soo cute.
Laura is she one of the kitties from Vanderbilt and Dean?
  • Yes, she's from that colony. We trapped and spayed her, then discovered she's a friendly little sweetie pie.
  • I have met this cat ... she is awesome! She is going to make one household very happy.
  • Oh Hazel!! Keep us updated on this little lady :)

Laura B. I sometimes feed these stray cats in the lot on Dean and vanderbilt. Is there anyway you can catch more of them to have them spayed. I'm afraid otherwise they're just going to keep on mating and before you know it there will be 10 of them. I would contribute to the cost.

OMG Puca aren't they adorable!! When I first saw them I was worried about them and mentioned it to LauraB - she and a friend were out there within a few days of me telling her and they trapped those kitties. I kept checking on them and noticed the empty cat food cans and was relieved that someone was feeding them. Laura's group, Slope Cats (not sure if that is the proper name) were the people who trapped, neutered and returned them and that is who I made my donation to. They are doing a wonderful job and I highly commend them on the work they do.

    Stacey,
Someone else is feeding them besides me with those cans of food. But are you telling me that all seven of those cats are spaded already because I saw 2 kittens yesterday a couple of months old at least.

Im not sure how many they caught by Laura definintely reads the boards so I am sure she will let you know or check it out.
  • Slope Street Cats has been working on that parking lot. I believe that they have all been spayed/neutered except for one adult and the two kittens that have recently been seen. We will be getting the rest of them shortly. Thanks for caring! We hope that this will keep the parking lot a nice and controlled feral cat colony.
  • Subject: help

I hope Park Slope Cats hurries up traps the rest because I went to feed them yesterday and now there are 4 kittens and 6 adults in the parking lot on Dean and Vanderbilt.I'm willing to help if needed.
    Thanks
  • I think that all of the adults but one have been spayed/neutered. The sterilized cats have an ear tip so that they can easily be identified. The kittens are on our list to trap ... we hope to get them soon. We do not have fosters available (we have tried ...) for them so we have to wait until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered before trapping them. Please let us know if you would be interested in helping. We need more volunteers since we are finding more and more cats and kittens in our area that need our help every day.

I am interested in helping. I can be reached at [email protected]
  • Update: Someone's put in an application for Hazel, and if all goes well she'll have a new home shortly.

Meantime, I wanted to let folks know that I've got one other homeless cat, who coincidentally I found on the streets of PH the same day I found Hazel. Her name is Lea and she is kitty-licious:

    image

She's super-affectionate (her gentle head-butts will make you melt!), playful (watch her leap gracefully as she plays with her toy mouse!), and has a luxurious, soft coat. Lea is healthy, up to date on shots, and has been spayed. She plays well with people and other kitties.

My boyfriend and I are completely smitten with her, and if we did not already have four cats we would keep Lea in a heartbeat.

Please give me a call if you'd like to meet her.
