  • As a frequent bicycle rider in Prospect Park, I also have issues with the bike races in the park on the weekends. The racers, their marshals and other people involved in the races have absolutely no consideration for the rest of the bicyclists, joggers, walkers, skaters, etc. using the road at the same time. Everyone gets shoved into one lane while the racers enjoy the 2 lanes for their races which go on for several hours at a time and they do not care about anyone else using the park. Prospect Park is not the place for Bicycle Races!

We should start a petition to have these bike races moved to Floyd Bennett Field in South Brooklyn where there are 5 miles of open and abandon (airplane) runways and they could race/speed around and not interfere with the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods who want to get a bit of exercise on a weekend morning without having to fear for our lives. There is also plenty of parking for these folks.

Most of the bicyclists who participate in these rides can drive just as easily to Floyd Bennett Field as they drive to Prospect Park to race and menace the local population. And if you do not believe the amount of racers that drive to Prospect Park for these races, just check out the Wolman Ring parking lot when those races happen and look at the completely filled parking lot with all the bike racks on the cars.

PETITION NOW AND CONTACT OUR LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS TO GET ALL OF THESE BICYCLE RIDES OUT OF PROSPECT PARK AND MOVED TO FLOYD BENNETTT FIELD FOR EVERYONES SAFETY!

No, not really. Not so much.

Is that enough making fun of you and 'threatening' you? Good.
Now I'm off to threaten the lives of tricyclists on the other childish boards I roam.
Hipster? Try again. I'm a 46 y.o, who wears pants that fit. Far from a hipster. I just don't appreciate your attempts at humor. No, i didn't take your little threat literally - you don't strike me as the kind of guy who would have the stones for a direct physical confrontation - but I still fail to understand why you had to chime in. Prospect Park is a tremendous resource for athletes, recreational exercisers, dog walkers, families, etc, and we should try to work together to make the most of it. I have volunteered my time and worked in PP toward that very goal, and will continue to do so. Other people in this thread made valid points and brought something to the table. You failed to do so. Last week Tony Kornheiser said that motorists should "kill" cyclists. Then he backed off and said "just tap" them. I guess you thought that was a laugh riot too.

Wow. You like to talk about yourself a lot. And take yourself way too seriously. It's all good. Have fun once in awhile. It's the damned interwebs. Heaven forfend I poke fun at the self serious!
