Park Circle Question
I mistakenly resurrected an old thread yesterday "TD Bank on Park Circle Noise" and, as such, my question was misinterpreted. Sorry. I'm not around the nabe much these days and read an article in the NY Times that implied that all of the problems at the Circle -and with TD Bank- entrance were corrected. Just wondering if that's true. Here's the article:

Driving around the circle is worse than ever, Now there are traffic lights and traffic backs up into the circle. People still make the right onto CIA and Parkside from the inner most lane
There is now a left had turn lane to the TD bank parking lot there should be no turn allowed her at all, it impedes the flow of traffic, Southbound traffic must still wait for cars to make that (what used to be illegal) turn.
It is better for pedestrians that didn't want to use the pedestrian bridge, but it is an even bigger nightmare for drivers -
I've driven the cirlce for decades, & the new configuration threw me for a loop the first time I encountered it. One problem seems to be that there are too many options/signs/lanes as you pull into the circle. Since you don't know your choices until you are on them, it's hard to know exactly where to do at first. Hopefully it will get better with use. However the many dividers & curbs mean that if you make a wrong choice, it's far harder to change lanes.

Yeah, that part is true, but it really isn't that bad. It was chaotic before any of this, so I'd say it's safer now. -
(#1) There are FOUR lanes... the right two are for turning!!!!!! The inner two are NOT for exiting.
(#2) The light sequences are still ridiculous. And the folks that are entering the circle from the park and PPSW just block everything up because they don't stop when the lights turn red and just shove themselves in.
Again -- it's just a matter of traffic ENFORCEMENT... but that doesn't seem to be anything the police are interesting in doing. -

For whom? Certainly not the drivers. It's worse for them -
Pedestrians who have to cross the streets there. The drivers need to follow the rules and to stay in the correct lane.

Yea, like that is going to happen. Even if they do stay in a lane the traffic exiting the circle to Ocean Pkwy backs up and blocks the rest of the traffic going around the circle -
The pedestrian bridge is useless and hinders pedestrian connectivity more than fosters it. I believe Stable Brooklyn has plans that support tearing it down, something that I think would do a world of good to better connect WT and Kensington.
As someone who has driven, biked and walked through Park Circle (still waiting to ride a horse through the area to check that off) before and after the changes, I think Park Circle is dramatically improved from what it once was. When I've driven I have rarely waited more than a minute to get through the intersection, even during rush hour.
As a Windsor Terrace resident, I'd much prefer a safer walking, biking and driving experience than for someone who is driving through my community a faster trip by a few seconds.
