rent a bolt cutter? — Brooklynian

rent a bolt cutter?

anyone know if any of the hardware stores in the area rent tools? I need a bolt cutter to break a padlock on my storage shed that seized over the winter, and now has a key broken off in it.

Just called Lowes and they don't, Tarzian must have closed early for Easter.

I can call a locksmith I guess but imagine it'd be a $75 house call at least.

  • try Leopodi's on 5th. may be closed today for Easter but they may do it.
  • home depot rents tools.
  • Bolt cutters are worth buying... you never know when you might need remove someone's fingers. Sometimes folks need to be taught a lesson about what paying back your debts means.
  • you can also borrow a grinder from whynot. Cuts thru anything, but makes noise.

you must PM him to set it up, however.
  • whynot - thanks for the offer! lemme call around and see if I can get ahold of a bolt cutter and if not i will take you up on the offer!
  • try a tool rental store
  • Not sure where you are located but a friend borrowed a box cutter or similar from one of the auto shops on 20th bet 7th and 8th when he needed to cut the titanium lock off a former roommate's bikem
  • if its a cheap lock, just bash it with a hammer, should pop right off. if not go with a grinder from whynot, they work better than bolt cutters.
  • You're gonna regret not having your own set of bolt cutters...
