3 abandoned cats need homes--where to go?

Some lovely person, opened up their car door and tossed out three cats and drove away. I don't know what to do with them. I can't take them in, I have cats already, asthma and two toddlers. My neighbor feeds them and she has cats and a severely disabled child. I don't want to bring them to a shelter because they will be put down.

Anyone want a new cat? Anyone have any ideas where to bring them?--someone mentioned Craig's list which I will try but I was also warned that many people who "rescue" from there then sell the animals for lab testing.

The Cats:
Two are boys and seem to be brothers--tortoise and white. They are fixed and very very sweet. Obviously somebody's pets.
The other is an all white declawed female. she is also very friendly but getting very very skinny and is not doing well on the street. She is probably older as her teeth are not as bright white and pointy.

  • Ugh, people are so awful. That makes me want to cry.

I wish I could take them in but I have three myself including two kittens who haven't had all their shots yet.

There is a woman who posts on the Prospect Heights forum who does cat rescue -- maybe she would have some ideas.
  • Have you tried the ASPCA? They're a no-kill shelter, AFAIK. I brought abandoned newborn puppies there once. They took them in and tried their best to save them all. The other shelters that I called would not accept them.

The CACC in Brooklyn will pick up abandoned animals and try to adopt them out, but they do euthanize.
