How to start a block association?
Has anyone started a block association? There's been an uptick in petty crime on my block, and I was thinking it might be helpful to form a block association-- at the least, there'd be a stronger "neighborly" vibe, and perhaps more incentive to help someone if a petty crime is witnessed.
Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

What block are you on? Are you sure there's no existing association?

I've only been on my block for 4 months, but I'm pretty sure there isn't an association. I'm on Butler Place (not far from you, it looks like). I'm kind of surprised that there isn't an association given the condo conversions in a lot of the buildings over the past several years.

There's an existing Sterling/Butler block association...it's just fairly dormant (as far as I can tell). You can join the listserve here : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sterling_Butler_BA/
