South Slope dog runs - wanna get involved?
FIDO just sent out a note from South Slope Dog Owners (by the Prospect Expressway)

Pam Brown wrote: We have been asked by the community board to do the following things:
1 - form a group of dog owners to take responsibility for running the dog run.
2 - petition the local area to show that we have a consensus of both dog owners and non-owners who would be impacted by the park.
At this point we have nearly 200 dog owners on this list, so I would say that we have clearly fulfilled the first requirement. Unfortunately, we still need to fulfill the second requirement.
I realize it was winter when I sent my email asking everyone on the list to petition... But, now it's spring and it's time to rally!
We need volunteers. If you live near the proposed park and you are willing to petition your neighbors, please email me with your name, address and phone number. Please let me know if you live in an apartment building or a house. I will organize volunteers into groups, and provide instructions - as well as everything else you will need so that it's an easy process.
This is something that is going to take as many volunteers as possible. It will only take a couple of hours of your time. It's not something a handful of people can do. There's a very strong chance that with effective petitioning we can have an official dog park quickly. But it will take as many hands on deck as possible. We really need volunteers!
Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks and hope you and your dogs are all well!
All the best - Pam Brown

Apparently the dog run is now chained shut and closed off for use. Presumably until they can make it "legal"

It's not a dog run and never was, but I do find it incredibly rude that dog owners think they can just open up the locked fence and let their dogs pee and crap over all the plants and trees and leave a mess behind.
