I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!!! How can anyone do this??? it is just so incredibly appalling to think there was a human behind this basic torture of an innocent puppy.
Bless all of you who are tending to and loving little Walter. He will adore you forever for your kind deeds. -
I saw the saddest thing Saturday night. Walking down a street in Bay Ridge, about halfway up the block in front of us was a black dog with a leash on, walking by itself. There was a man about 20 ft in front of the dog and a woman with a granny cart about 10 ft behind. Doggie was walking slowly, not sniffing at the ground or the tree wells, and moved like it was either very tired or sick. As we caught up to the woman, she stepped off the curb and took her cart into the street so as to not pass the dog. We continued up the block getting closer to the animal. Just then the man turned around and yelled "Come on, why are you so slow. He ran back, grabbed the leash and dragged the dog out into the street. He crossed and started up the block on the far side of the street dragging the dog behind him and yelling at it. We got to the corner and crossed while the guy crossed on the opposite side of the street. Our destination was at the opposite corner so we crossed again, and passed the man and the dog just as we were entering our destination.
The dog was a female pit bull, and judging from the look of her, she was in pretty poor shape. Her ribs were showing, as was her backbone. Her teats were drooping low, which caused my SO to surmise that she may have recently given birth to a litter. The guy was yelling at the dog about how slow she was moving and at one point he was literally dragging her down the street. We asked the folks inside to call the cops, but the guy got to the corner and turned out of view. By the time we got up the block the guy had disappeared. -
You should call the cops anyway, Homeowner- I had a similar experience a few years back. I called 911 and even though the guy was out of my sight, they called me back a few minutes later to find out what direction he'd gone in. They were VERY interested (may have been a slow night in CH) in finding the guy...
poor thing...I hate people...

The Gate is having a fundraiser for Walter tonight. Selected $5 pints and every penny goes towards his care.
