Franklin Ave Construction

condos. maybe with a starbucks. there's a thread about it somewhere. it was the old mazon store, so perhaps that's the source of said rumor.
-
I remember that mazon retains ownership but lost both financing and nerve in light of downturn. Yup, was going to be condos and mazon owned first floor.

That construction site has been here for up to two years. Who knows when either the original builder will find capital again or another developer will take over the project? Its a damn eyesore.
-
There is a plan to gussy up the eyesore just a bit. The Crow Hill organization plans to paint the perimeter around the building. They are going to get some artists and kids to paint it with various things. I hate the fact that there is no sidewalk as a result of the construction. I can't understand how that is legal. There is no egress. There should be.

Good interim plan, but the plywood is now in such bad shape that the paint is going to need a new "canvas". Plywood is about $35 a sheet, well worth the investment. If they are near the point of doing this (not just the idea stage), you should have a mini-volunteer or $ fundraiser here. ..you might be surprised who donates, and how much you get.MHA wrote: I hate the fact that there is no sidewalk as a result of the construction. They likely got permission to obstruct the sidewalk temporarily while they build the basement. If the basement foundation hasn't been finished, they can't remove the fence (sidewalk of pedestrians falling into hole: bad). Perhaps DOB could force the owners to finish the work to the degree that sidewalk be restored ....letters, politicans and community activism might make this happen. -
You might want to raise the plywood issue with Crow Hill. Well, I will find a way of contacting them myself and raise it too.. The plywood is cruddy-looking. Maybe they can 'prime' it first before they paint?

the stuff is warped and falling apart after 3 years. It's not gonna give them the improvement they want.
...one can't simply paint a rusting '88 Corolla and expect good results.
I can't say I'm a Crow Hill member ...me telling them how they should do their project doesn't hold a lot of positive potential.
But I'm a good painter.
...and have several hammers.
...and know the price of plywood. -
well, you got money?? why not buy some plywood?

See above:

I think crow hill should help the owners find somesort of gov building money. Make a couple of calls to Obama. Call marty, write to David and mike. Who knows.

Dude, why not paint the part near your store??? I get the heebie jeebies everytime I walk near your store and I see pulp and bean scrawled on the wooden wall like that. Just throw some paint on that part that runs perpendicular to Franklin there...Seriously.
Howdy, Stranger!
