has anyone had these installed in their building?

About how long did it take? they are supposed to come to my place tomorrow and I don't want to leave the guy here by himself but don't want to be extremely late for work either.

  • The new water meters? If that's it, they didn't even come into our building to do that. Even if they have to go into your building, it doesn't look like it's very complicated or time-consuming.
  • A new water meter or new water meter reader?

good question, not sure. I think we are getting one of those gray boxes that say Star on them.
  • We got one.

It sends the meter readings over wireless to the DEP mothership, eliminating need for someone to walk the neighborhood taking readings.

It took the guy about 10 minutes to install.
  • What jeffrey says.
  • What Jeffrey said.
Took 10 minutes in the house and the reading device is outside the building so when I let him out he attended to that.
  • It's all a big nothing.
  • cool, thanks
  • But if your boss asks, it takes all day and is a real pain the ass :)
  • p.s. It took longer for me to get through to the company the City has contracted (waiting on hold blah blah) than it took the person to do the job when they showed up.
  • yea took about 20 mins. i was actually walking to the subway and saw the guy installing it at Eden dry cleaners and was like Dude you gotta get to my place already.
  • I spent more time on the phone with the company that it took for the installer to do his business. He went into the basement to look at the water meter, but did all his work on the outside and did not have to turn off the water. Took no more than 10 minutes, if that.
