Anyone from Pittsburgh or Western PA? — Brooklynian

Anyone from Pittsburgh or Western PA?

In two weeks I am driving to Pittsburgh then to Fallingwater in Western PA. Anyone from these parts have any recommendations on places to stop on the way? Or any suggestions for things to do or places to eat in Pittsburgh? Thanks.

  • I'm actually headed out to Pittsburgh this weekend. I searched google for "36 Hours in Pittsburgh" and found 2 NY Times columns with suggestions.

  • i've only been to pittsburgh once, but just eat lots and lots of french fries and ranch dressing. they put those two things on everything. sandwiches, burger, salads... it's ridiculous. and by ridiculous i mean good. homemade ranch dressing....ohman...

  • I love Pittsburgh. The south side is fun. The bars are dirt cheap. It's a beautiful city with a zillion bridges.
At Lava Lounge's bar the step where you put your feet used to be a trough thing that dudes would pee directly into. I like trivia such as this.
    Ride those inclines. Duquesne.

    Have fun.
  • Oh yeah and see a Pirates game. Cheap seats and a beautiful stadium.
  • I would recommend the Church Brew Works.
A bar/restaurant inside of a former church. Good beers on tap and pub grub.

  • Dee Dee is right!! that place is great. As a beer person, it was great to get local brews but the food is good and the atmosphere is great!
