Tennis in Prospect Park

Does anyone know where you have to go to get cards for playing in the courts just south of the park?

Are the courts any good and do they tend to get busy? Any info is appreciated.

  • i'm pretty sure you have to go to the courts area on parkside ave near park circle. and yea i've heard people tend to monopolize the courts.
  • Are you talking about the Prospect Park Tennis Center. You have to call and reserve a court and it costs like $40+/hr

  • When the "bubble" is down (next week) you can get a permit at Lichfield Mansion for the season. If you want to reserve a court there is a modest fee ($3 or $4) but at off times you will be able to get a court.

When the bubble is up the rates are as low and $26 and up to$40 per hour for the whole court (not per person). There are discounts for seniors and teens
  • You can also get a tennis permit at Paragon Sports in the city. Once you have one you can renew online. It's free to play once the bubble's down, but it's a $7 reservation fee, which you can do over the phone.

Bubble play is EXPENSIVE. However, this weeked b/t 12-4 on both days there's a 50% discount.

The courts get busy at peak times, and there are "groupies" who are there all the time, thus why making a reservation is a good thing.
  • Can you buy tennis lessons there?
