Anyone know of a good place? Dixon's? Someone told me she thought that there was a good place somewhere on Vanderbilt but she doesn't know the name of it. Clues?

  • We've had good luck with the place on 9th St/6th Ave, I think called Brooklyn Bicycles. They were pretty helpful and service was quick every time we've been in for repairs and replacements.

I used Dixon's once a long time ago and the service was okay, but very slow and they tried to charge me a lot more than they had told me it would be for the parts and labor, but eventually gave me the first price after some discussion. Make sure to call before going b/c they keep somewhat irregular hours.

I had something done at the place on 5th Ave near the big Key Foods, and it was okay. No real raves or rants about the experience.
  • Never had repairs done, but the people at the place on Vanderbilt (and Dean) at Brooklyn Bike and Board were really friendly. Recently sold Dayman's old bike there too.
  • femmedada, your friend might be referring to Bicycle Station, the bicycle shop that Brooklyn Bike and Board replaced. The folks at Bicycle Station are both friendly and skilled -- and they're now located on Park & Adelphi. www.bicyclestationbrooklyn.com

I also think the folks at BeSpoke on Lafayette in Fort Greene are good, too.

Brooklyn Bike and Board hasn't been consistent with their pricing when I've gone in.
