Anyone have an experience to share about Muera Salon?

On Warren & 5th? I'm looking for a new stylist to cover up my highlights, gives great blow outs and cuts my long layers and occasional bangs really well. I also would like someone I can go to for "party" hair about 3-6 times a year. The space looks great. Hoping the stylists are as well.

  • I went there 2-3 weeks ago for the first time. I have mixed feelings, this is why:
The cut and blow out I got was decent - the bangs are slightly uneven on very close inspection but I'm the only one who notices and I think it will grow out okay. The blow out was super straight - which I liked a lot. Prices were a good 25-30 less than what I pay my regular guy which I also liked a lot - but definitely a lower qualty result. Understandable. The thing that bugged me was the overall salon experience. It looked nice walking by, which is why I decided to try it out - but inside it's a bit different. The stylists, I'm sorry to say, have bad hair. One was wearing a baseball cap with her hair strung through the back in a ponytail - that's just not okay for a stylist at work. And the other stylist had fried bleached out hair with crazy roots. Maybe that's her "look" and that would be fine except that I'm not sure many people would compliment her hair, which is what she's selling. I was scared at first sight and almost changed my mind and walked out, but I decided I was desperate for a cut right then and there and would chance. After all, I had read good reviews of the place on Yelp.

Anyway - morale of the story - Cut was okay, blowout was good. Maybe I would go back for just a basic trim, but probably not, mostly based on the stylists' hair.
