Not just shamwows and tube socks. Restaurants will offer menu selections on sidewalk booths. Bars set up bands and draft beers carts (yes, you can walk around eating a gyro and drinking a beer). Arts, crafts, etc..

Plus for you vinyl enthusiasts or DJ's:

Thanks for the heads up, Mama!

    Actually, yeah, it kinda is.
  • we have a booth with fresh SUSHI, Sapporo draft beer & cold SAKE at KAPPA SAKE HOUSE 388 5 Ave. between 6 & 7 St. Please check it out
  • The street fair was far nicer than any on 7th Avenue. There were a number of booths selling hand-made crafts, comparable to those one would find at the better crafts fairs.

The Red Hook Lobster Pound was selling wonderful lobster rolls and shrimp rolls, Steve's Key Lime Pies were selling pies and chocolate-covered pies, there were a couple of booths making crepes, and in front of Southpaw a band was acting as if it would someday start playing music.

Sadly, we did not see any tube socks!
  • does anyone know who was selling the ribs & beer near maybe 1st or carrol st? They were very good.
  • I thought it must be the restaurant, 200 5th.
  • There were tube socks for sure.

Fair was about the same it's always been, although I did see less local business and local artists out there than usual. Some places I wish had booths, such as 'Snice, have never joined in on the fun.

For about the fourth year straight, Brooklyn Fish Camp did not have mini-lobster rolls. Those were the bomb. The Red Hook Lobster Pound was out there, serving them both Maine and CT style, and charging what one should actually charge for a lobster roll.

Had a bit of a lobster roll, some of a pork parfait from Benchmark (which made a GREAT first appearnce), empanadas from Bogota, and beer from Bierkraft. That should last me a week.

Blue Ribbon. Those ribs were really reallly good. Blue Ribbon Sushi was right next to them w soft shell crab handrolls, which weren't as thrilling as past years.

I liked that punk trio w tuba late in the afternoon at the stage by The Gate. And the bike component swapsale by the Stone House.

Wasn't there for it, but I had a good chuckle later that night when I saw it mentioned with a photo on Twitter:
