  • What ever you do...go in person to the offices where these things are created/processed. MUCH better to go in person if at all possible. Take your lunch, take a good book. Make sure you remain calm. Look up the division which is responsible for processing your information and then look up the office in the city which is responsible. Then...send an e-mail to the person(s)/council people who are the highest on the food chain of supervision. This has really helped me. I don't think folks realize that, if they have a few minutes and can remain patient, going in person is a great thing. They remember your face and may help you our at some later day. Good luck.
  • Are you sure it is for the boiler itself and not something else? It could be for the "surroundings" of the boiler. As I found out, a boiler is required to be situated in a cinderblock "room" with a fire door (metal). Walls and ceilings must use fire retardant drywall. Went through something similar after an older boiler was replaced. Turns out the notice was regarding the drywall - even though the house was built to code in the '50s, codes have changed. As stooplady indicated, much better to go in person and get to the root of the actual problem.
  • i talk to dep, they said i had to register the boiler equipment after i installed it. and they claim they sent out a certified letter to me in apirl something(i think she said mid apirl).. which i never have gotten. according to the 4 letters now(same letters). they observed the violation on apirl 31st. which doesn't make sense.

these letters i got was for hearing for last week. got 2 at home and 2 at the building. they misspelled all the names. etc.... god i hope this isn't some sort of something bureancy mistake. i downloaded the form to now go register it and pay them $110.

the problem is the missed hearing which the fine is $1700 total ripe off!!!
the letters isn't even dated outside like normal letters just presorted in bulk mail.
  • Hi, just a thought BEFORE you pay the bill...is there any possibility it is a scam? Even a scam within DEP, perhaps to meet some sort of quota? Is DEP a quasi-government agency or private? Also, they have installed new boxes to read at the brownstones in my neighborhood. Do you think that somehow someone came into your building while installing the box and noticed whatever is going on?

In any case, it may be a giant pain in the bootie but...if there is a way to go in person, then try. If it is the cost of doing business for you or if your time is worth more than getting to the bottom of things, then so be it.

OK, enough said. Hope things work out!
  • who knows :p, god i just hate the government! but for sure I know their mailing thing being mail out over a month ago is a scam!!!

other wise i'm gonna go play by the book and go pay their fee's and etc... just hope not the late not showing up fee of $1700.
