Another interesting (but unverified) post from ilovefrankliniave's blog:

But if it wasn't about drugs, why the red-hued memorial? Red t-shirt, red markers, red candles. Seems to scream out gang-related. Is there some significance to red other than the most obvious?

Googling Jeannie Pepper.... Is she related to Sergeant Pepper by any chance?
Hard to take seriously someone with a Kiddie porn avatar; an adult porn Avatar -- well that's different! Thank you Mr. Krohn! " : )

I've been doing fine in this neighborhood for the past decade without needing your newbie advice, so yea, smile I will!

Hey Jeffrey, can I respond to whatchuwant about white skin privilege and white woman privileges or is that over the top???
-
That may already have been covered in this course, I'll have to check the syllabus.
-
I vote we just provide the check list and move on...

Thank you whynot for providing the study guide.

Yes, it seems that that unit is best served at this point in the conversation with the take-home test provided above. -

Some readers might not have gone to college in the 90s....
I'm here to help.
P.S. Whatchuwant's avatar is actually a very famous, thought provoking photo of white trash by a really good photographer. ...whose name I can't think of at the moment. -

Reminds me of Diane Arbus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Arbus -
well, there is no chance in hell that I am going to google "pubescent smoking girl in bathing suit" on this computer, so I can't help you.....

It's more recent that Diane Arbus ...the photographer has color photos as well. She is famous enough to have a coffee table book..... -

Like I previously stated, I don't need you to educate me on my whiteness or femaleness, MHA and I think that you have a bit of a superiority complex for running around this board in your silly attempt to 'educate' my fellow posters and I as if we were born yesterday. I've been on this planet for 40 years and (I'll say it AGAIN) I've been doing great without your help.
Move along, little MHA, move along. -

Better hope they don't have keyloggers installed or Van Eck rigs set up nearby else you *already* just came up on their radar, ha...

Well done!
And what a story behind that one. -
yea, I didn't know the story....
-
Yeah, I know about this white chick who took the photo. Guarantee you if a white man did it, or worse, a Black man(!) that trash wouldn't be considered art. What makes it 'art' is how society considers the 'normative gaze' of the photographer. If that pic was MY avatar, I doubt that Ms. Whatchumacallit it here with her 'avante garde' photo would take kindly to it.
It's interesting how a smart Black man is deemed a superior knowitall, ain't it?? Mr. Jeffrey, doesn't this consitute ad hominem attack? Seriously dude.... Someone needs to police dat... -
"little MHA"? Hah! if you ONLY knew. They don't call me Mr. MHA for nothin'!
-

I don't give a rat's ass what avatar you use.MHA wrote: Seriously dude.... Someone needs to police dat...
Nobody has to police shit- I didn't break any rules. Just stating my opinion about you. -

"Your call will be answered in the order received..."
Ha, just kidding.
I was actually giving opportunity for my prior posts to settle in, and everybody to take a moment to cool down in this here warm weather, dialing it back to just expressing agreement or disagrement and/or discussing why and backing away from temptations for insults.
But maybe the heat has gone to my brain.
But yeah, everyone should abide by the same rules or else all this goes downhill fast. -
You see how white people get when you question their sense of privilege? Whatumacallit you make my case here. YOU REALLY do. You read like John McCain pointing the finger at Obama here, seriously. You're unhinged here.
In the words of New edition:
Cool it down,
You gotta slow it down,
Oooh watch out!
You're gonna lose control!
Dude, how you gonna let this white lady with her 'I smile at the world and the world smiles back at me' call me Lil' MHA (Is that like Lil' Wayne? Cuz I'll take that)? ; )
Okay whatchamacallit, your ten years of experience in da hood makes you a real authority. Your little kiddie porn pics are real progressive; my not thinking it's art but rather porn is really out of line. My talking about the white normative gaze is really not addressing the issue in a mature critical manner; your're not giving a rat's ass is really mature. I get it... You calling me little MHA makes all the sense in the world. I get it.... Have you met CTK buy the way? -
MHA is funny
-
And a fast typist.
But seriously, can anyone explain the red-themed memorial to me that's up on the corner now? Is there some significance to that other than the obvious implication? -
can we get a picture from a reader? ...it would save the rest of us from having to go see it.
On the otherhand, I'm pretty sure there is not an adhered to guidebook "How to Create a Sidewalk Memorial to Your Loved One"
....the ones I've seen seem to vary.
http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&source=imghp&q=sidewalk+memorial&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
but if you are asking because you are wondering whether there are gangs active in the local area, the answer is a simple "Yes, there are." -
Ridonkulous wrote: And a fast typist.
It could be that the guy was a blood, but it could also be representing all the blood that spilled
But seriously, can anyone explain the red-themed memorial to me that's up on the corner now? Is there some significance to that other than the obvious implication? -
Like many other victims of violent crime, he could also have been leading a double life - trying to stay down with childhood friends and long-time associates while simultaniously attempting to be the man that his family is now remembering.
He wouldn't be the first one to fall victim to "the life" -
I'm not asking if there are gangs in the area.

You see? Now I'm a troll. Interesting.... Note, no name calling from me.... This is what, indignity number four or five? I know you want to see Bigger Thomas, Ms. Watchuwant, but it won't happen. I know whitegirls like you all too well. Go on with your name calling...
Jeffrey, wassup man? I'm gettin' stuff from a moderator that I need to be nice, and this girl is callin' me names?
Howdy, Stranger!
