For Sale sign on SPV Vino — Brooklynian

For Sale sign on SPV Vino

Saw it this morning. Guess the bizzare pre-opening signage didn't work out so well. Sometimes, less is more, people.

  • ^ I don't remember what/where this place is......did it crash and burn really fast?
  • 5th Ave down in the name streets, I think. Near President maybe.
  • 5th between 1st and 2nd.
  • And it lasted perhaps a month? Another one of the doomed locales on Fifth Avenue. Too bad, it's a great location and seems to be a nice deep space. I knew it was already over the first week, however, when there was a woman standing at the door inviting passers by in for free drinks.
  • there are yelp reviews going back to november 2009, so it's definitely been open more than a month.
  • it was under construction with the awful neon yellow signs for forever, was open for maybe a couple months, and has just been sitting empty for months now. the for sale sign has been up since this past weekend.
  • It housed a turkish place beforehand which was also short-lived and seemed to be a quick redo of another place which wasn't working out. Space does look good. It just seems like another spot where a lack of imagination, marketing, and quality have sunk several places. Hopefully, someone who knows what they're doing will do something there at some point.

It's amazing how locations like this and the former Playa location can house one misfire after another.
  • This news hurts me deep down in my comfort zone.
