Dunkin Donuts

So where did this Dunkin Donuts (located on the corner of 6th and St. Marx) come from? It looks totally out of place. I assume McDonalds is next?

not a fan of chains, so i won't be stopping in.
  • totally agree . . .

    unless it was a krispy kreme . . .

and there were fresh hot doughnuts that had just been made and would just melt in your mouth. . .

    . . . in which case, i'd have a dozen.

but otherwise, no chains. uh-uh. never. bad idea.

    Hmmm... Freudian slip?
  • the AWESOME part about the DD is not the DD --- it's the baskin robbins! come on, people. ICE CREAM!

I wouldn't join the Church of the Holy Groucho if they'd have me as a member.

BTW: can anyone point out our nearest source of Krispy Kreme?
  • Subject: Four Free Donuts

I visited the place last Sunday and told the man who helped me how happy I was that there's a Dunkin D in the neighborhood. He then did the impossible: Gave me 4 Free Donuts. I'm now a loyal customer.
  • D&D may be a chain, but it's also part of the East Coast; it's not like TGIF or Olive Garden. It hardly exists as move move further into the "heartland."
I like D&D, though I never really eat their doughnuts 'cause I'd have to spend another day in the gym! But having said that, they sure are tasty!
  • as i said in the other post. there is nothing wrong with dd. us pooh boys gotta get our donuts some how and the ice cream is good too.
  • DD is like the Boba Fett of Corporate Coffee Chains. Kinda evil, but also kinda cool in a way.

Starbucks is the Darth Vader of Corporate Coffee Chains. They're really, really evil

Dude, your analogy is one of the weirdest I've seen. Nice job! But remember, Vader turned good at the end, so, will Starbucks redeem itself? Also, Bobo Fet was a clone, are you saying D&D is a clone of something, say... Krispy Kreme
    (kidding, I'm lame)
I bet either one could filter some mean coffee through those helmets!

  • I always liked IG-88 myself.
  • wait, did someone say "D&D"? I am so TOTALLY ready to break out the d20 and roll for damage!

I still think it sticks out like a sore thumb. Krispy Kremes would have been better - something like the one that used to be on 8th street in village near NYU. You could just stand there and watch that cute lil machine spit out the dough on a conveyer belt - the only thing missing would be Lucy and Ethel :)

true, but they do have that little walk up window. i wonder how long that line will be in the morning with half asleep zombies:

    * walk up with a grumpy frown
    * hand over money
    * walk away with donut, coffee and a smile

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they have 'em, but too sickly sweet for me...
  • I think the decline and fall of our Brooklyn is being recorded in this thread.

Yuppers - when asked why they choose to live in Brooklyn, over 83% of the residents stated that the #1 reason was the lack of donut chains. Since Dunkin' Donuts opened it's doors, Brooklyn's population has declined, the rate of attrition nearly quadrupling. Analysts estimate that, if DD expansion continues unchecked, Brooklyn will have a population of only 213 people in the year 2021.

    LOCK YOU FRENCH CRULLERS!
