Are You Having Optimum/Cablevision Problems?

My internet and phone service has been off and on, off and on, for the last month now. Initially I thought they fixed it with something at the "trunk," or neighborhood level. But now the problem is back (tech is coming this afternoon). But I'm wondering if others in the area are having the same problem? I'm on Prospect Place near Vanderbilt. Would be helpful to know because they only look at problems one customer at a time at Cablevision (sigh). Their techs can't see if it's an area-wide issue. Thanks.

  • Yes! One day earlier this week my internet was down every 5 minutes or so, sometimes for as long as 20 minutes at a time. Considering I work from home, this sucked horribly. I haven't had much problem in the last 2 days though. I'm on Vanderbilt near Dean.
  • Yep. At Prospect and Washington. It goes out for an hour or two at a time every so often the last couple of weeks.
  • Exactly, blenderfish - and right when I'm emailing or Googling for work.

    The "senior tech" here today (nice guy) said a connection was loose at the splitter where the cable comes into the house.....haven't had a problem since he fixed it, hoping that that's all it is.......

  • Yep! We had a tech come out and check it out - our cable had multiple stations that were coming through as just a black screen. They said there was water in our cable, from rain the week prior... That fixed our cable, but our Internet is buggy and frequently loses connection for apron 5-10 mins randomly throughout the day.

    Ugh Cablevision.
  • I've had a problem in CH for the last two and a half weeks. They have now sent two techs ten days apart out to confirm what I told them from the beginning, that my modem was working correctly and the problem is outside of my home. After both visits they swore it would be back up in 24-48 hours. The last repairman came on Friday to see me as of 9am this morning, still no service.

    When I called Verizon to request a credit on my bill that is due next week, they told me 1) no credit until they fix the problem and 2) someone else is coming today to fix the problem.

    Cablevision sucks.
