Prime 6 NYC

Prime 6 is my favorite restaurant.

By far my favorite comment on the Brownstoner thread about this:

Ahhh...comedy.
I wouldn't go by what the people on Brooklynian have to say. Having met many of them, they are not reliable opinionaters.
One thing: is this place a steakhouse? (dunno, wasn't gonna wade through that overwrought Flash crud)
I seem to recall that people wanted more steakhouses in the area, so maybe this is a good thing. That place behind Loki is still far enough from North Slope and Prospect Heights folk to work out, if the food's good.
Is there steak for steak's sake on Vanderbilt yet? -
The name sounds like a steakhouse, that would be cool. I love MEAT!
So who's infinitejester? I doubt I've ever met this person. It would even be more hilarious if jester met Meridith,Julious or DR and is painting us all based on that meeting LOL! -
"Prime 6 Restaurant, Lounge and Bar
Coming Soon!
Site is under construction. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Prime 6 owners, if you are listening, ditch the Flash completely.
Flash is great for video and game sites, but when people go to restaurant sites they want info. Menu. Address. Phone Number. Photos. Maybe some other stuff about the restaurant. Not some whizzbang Zombo.com "experience"...
Just access to info.
You don't see yelp.com or menupages.com with a flying, whirring flash interface.
Just plain ol' HTML + CSS that anyone on a computer or mobile can pull up for info.
Go to http://wordpress.com or something, or http://drupalgardens.org for some free web standards-based site options with content management built in. Anything but flash.
Thanks.
Looking forward to see what goes in the space. Hope there's steak! -
^ and turn off the music!

I don't think anyone's getting hysterical at all. If the place turns out to be good, then we'll eat crow and support the place.
But in this case, he kinda speaks truth... some of us are growing a bit hysterical in anticipation that this new restaurant may not fit into the nabe.
Who cares? If it is no better than its website, it'll quickly close, and some other dreamers will invest their time and money into trying to make their own dreams come true. Eventually someone's dream will resonate with the tastes of the neighborhood, and that place will last a while.
However, I don't think it's far-fetched to question, from the garishness of the little bit we've seen so far, whether the aim of whatever is going in there is to provide quality food and drink for the neighborhood, or to provide a flashy spot for promoters to pack people in in anticipation of a hotspot when the arena opens (and if the Nets manage to land some high-priced stars in the meantime.) What you do from the very beginning you begin to set up your business affects how your potential customers view what you're going to do.
There's nothing inherently wrong with Prime 6 is trying to do. I just think it's potentially a sad sign of things to come for that end of the neighborhood.
I'd love it if it turned out to be a solid quasi-high-end steakhouse like Benchmark is. Time will tell. -
I passed by there today and met one of the managers. i told him I have a lifetime membership with the royal video from since 2001, would that get me any discounts and he said he will definitely give me a discount. Lol I think thats great. They dont seem that bad.

For every time bk4ever posts on this thread, I will walk by and give the place the gasface an extra time. That'll show him. -

This thread is still alive? I thought this place closed already.

While I have your ear...
Offer unpretentious, quality, affordable food, a decent bar with a good happy hour, attentive waitstaff, and delivery. Make an effort to restore the exterior to its original brownstone. And get the Flash and Twin Towers off of your website. -
And brush up on your gerunds.
-
the entire site has been basically dismantled.
so clearly someone reading (or perhaps posting?) on this thread took note of the comments. -
Cool the kid, we are discussing the subject over here:
