Park Slope Baby Shower on budget — Brooklynian

Park Slope Baby Shower on budget

Does anyone know of any nice private rooms which we could rent out on a budget? Went to a few restaurants and got good prices (in the $30 range for a lot of food) but we're having around 30-40 people and its just getting over budget. We're willing to bring our own food if we could find the space. Buget for space only would be around $200. any ideas??

thanks!

Magnolia is a great party party space. They will close the whole place down for you if you do it in the afternoon and its a great size for 30-40 people. I think their basic menu (which is more than enough) is $22 per person.
  • some friends of mine had a shower at Bar Reis, the owner let them have the space gratis and they just paid for food.

If you cannot find a restaurant you might want to try some of the VFW, Eagles clubs, etc. They charge you for the use of the rental space and most places have a working kitchen.

When we lived in an apartment we held lots of parties at the VFW on 10th Ave in the S. Slope. You do have to bring your own food and drink. The people there were so wonderful and the kitchen there was spotless. If I am not mistaken the price you pay is a donation so it might even be tax deductible. One of the guys that belongs to the club had a nice young son and daughter who we paid (I think it was $50 each for the day) to help serve the food and drink and clean up after.

I do remember going to lots of showers and parties at Snookys which is on 7th Ave. They were always pretty nice there too.

    Good luck
