you think Westchester has a problem , murder is reported as natural causes in certain areas in brooklyn.
  • The problem with Westchester is that there are too many immigrant Catholics, Jews, people of color, and, especially, Democrats, right, Westchester Douche?

Wouldn't the country be a better place if history were different, and no one except good WASPs had ever been admitted?

Actually, we do know a bit about you.

Your name and beliefs on myriad subjects are clearly, publicly stated on your totally awesome web site amidst all the bold, all-caps supersized shouting and hyperbole, and your location is mentioned in your utter gem of a Twitter account which is also clearly linked on your site.

Based on that, since it is clear from the above that you are descended from recent immigrants yourself, I have the following question for you:

Do you suppose your parents, or their parents, or their parents may have been some of these immigrants that continued to speak their native language and perhaps held on to customs from the mother country after arrival here, maybe even passing it on to other generations?

    Just curious.

And I also have a joke:

Q: What do you call a Republican offering lasagna as the reason not to vote for the Democratic nominee for Governor?

    A: A Cuomophobe.

  • Immigrants - 1810 vs 1910 VS 2010

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States , people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.

Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French American, the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

    The Westchester Douche
  • Jeffrey, I think your joke is funny, but, it could be funnier.

And talk about having Cuomophobia, his Hash Values lesson #1, kids this is a joint, I don't smoke Hash, No Hash, Pot, just Pot, now let's go to lesson #2, Munches, we start out with Sandra Lee's Campbell Soup and Cottage Cheese lasagna and then we quickly move on to dog sh-t...

So how is it that you can then blast the Cuomos for not being "Italian enough."

    From your own web site:
The Westchester Douche's Web Site wrote: The Cuomo’s Are Not Into An Italian American Culture
I don't think Andrew Cuomo, embraces his Italian culture because the last two women in his life have not been Italian. Maybe, his mother Matilda isn’t a full blooded Italian because it seems like she definitely doesn’t spend time in the kitchen, maybe she never made a homemade lasagna or Italian sauce. she probably doesn’t even cook.
    ...
How do you reconcile the above two statements?

    Thanks

  • stacey wrote: Really? Funny how people forget why and how this country was founded. I for one am really tired of this country being called "Christian" in case you forget there is separation of church and state.
"Separation of Church and State - The Metaphor and the Constitution
"Separation of church and state" is a common metaphor that is well recognized. Equally well recognized is the metaphorical meaning of the church staying out of the state's business and the state staying out of the church's business. Because of the very common usage of the "separation of church and state phrase," most people incorrectly think the phrase is in the constitution.

The phrase "wall of separation between the church and the state" was originally coined by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptists on January 1, 1802. His purpose in this letter was to assuage the fears of the Danbury, Connecticut Baptists, and so he told them that this wall had been erected to protect them. The metaphor was used exclusively to keep the state out of the church's business, not to keep the church out of the state's business.

The constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Both the free exercise clause and the establishment clause place restrictions on the government concerning laws they pass or interfering with religion. No restrictions are placed on religions except perhaps that a religious denomination cannot become the state religion.

However, currently the implied common meaning and the use of the metaphor is strictly for the church staying out of the state's business. The opposite meaning essentially cannot be found in the media, the judiciary, or in public debate and is not any part of the agenda of the ACLU or the judiciary.

This, in conjunction with several other factors, makes the "separation of church and state" metaphor an icon for eliminating anything having to do with Christian theism, the religion of our heritage, in the public arena. One of these factors is the use of the metaphor in place of the actual words of the constitution in discourse and debate. This allows the true meaning of the words in the constitution to be effectively changed to the implied meaning of the metaphor and the effect of the "free exercise" clause to be obviated. Another factor facilitating the icon to censor all forms of Christian theism in the public arena is a complete misunderstanding of the "establishment" clause."

Um, you're missing the point. They are talking about illegals, not those who came here legally, work hard and appreciate this country. Illegals, those who entered illegally. ie; not legal.

And the last time I checked, Obama is not to happy with Israel.

Here's the thing, I don't have to reconcile, I'm the press. 1) By the way, who was your source for the following breakthrough scoop:

I can't wait to see this in the worldwide headlines tomorrow. Had people known this they might not have voted for him.

    2) Can anyone buy a domain name, hang out a newsy-sounding shingle on their own site and pass off opinion pieces as actual reporting?

Oh wait. I was around for the last election, so I guess so.

I look forward to seeing the news wires pick up your writing.
  • It's a matter of flavor you enjoy, and we never give up our sources. This Election or the last election any election, they all have a twist of refreshing lemon. Hey, stick around, and you'll see how it all unfolds in the spin and as it heats up and gets closer to the cycle when it's coming to an end, you'll see it. You'll be able to see how powerful the truth is on the web, it's like a wild fire that travels at the speed of lightening, of course with the help of the crawlers who love to breeze through the web searching for the truth. This country, like most other countries, was founded on economic principles. Religious idealism and practice were secondary at most, a coincidence at the least.

What economic principals would that be?

To make money off natural resources and people's labors. Native American slavery and the spice and gold trade being some of the first money makers during Columbus. Animal trade, wood, exploitation of real estate and use of slavery in the NYC/NY (as an example)region during Dutch rule. English soon after.
  • Slavery still exists, it's called minimum wage.

  • does anybody else see the potential for a love match between Westchester and MHA?

  • I have to say you guys are sweet.

    The Westchester Douche
  • Wait. minimum wage is slavery?

Republicans are usually against minimum wage, they make a good argument that basically states that by artificially inflating wages more unemployment is created.

...and, as a result, the poor of this country are worse off.
...and that the country's ability to compete in worldwide market is diminished.

It is an instance of government infringing upon the free market, and individual businesses.

Westchester Douche are you breaking from party lines, and advocating that the minimum wage should be HIGHER than it is now?

If you are against minimum wage entirely (like some republicans), what's your solution to maintaining some standard of living for those who don't have alot of skills to compete in the market place?

....do you advocate a generous public assistance system, one which would have the effect of allowing people to not work at positions/wages that they deem unacceptable? .....this would have the effect of raising minimum wages as well, but is usually only advocated by those on the far left.

Republicans point out that such systems create incentives to not work, and prevent people from improving their skills to meet the demands of the market place.

Or do you believe that simply getting rid of undocumented immigrants (who are often willing to work for wages lower than citizens) will magically make the rest of the world be willing to pay more for our products and services, even though they can get cheaper and often better quality goods from other countries?

Or are you a fan of LaRouche or Ron Paul? They often get lonely and pose as a Republicans? Man if you are, I am glad to see you. I haven't heard from a La Rouche fan in a while. How are you folks doing?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaRouche_movement

    ....inquiring minds wanna know.
  • whynot, you're a funny guy, first off, I am a Republican yes, but first I am an American. I think every American Citizen, wait, I'll say it again, American Citizen, should make enough money to enjoy this one God given life that is here on earth.

The Hamptons, does not mean summertime for most of us working class Americans, the is only for privileged few Americans like the Cuomo's and the Kennedy's, and Lazio's, and the Paterson's, Spitzer's, Trump's, Movie Stars, Rich and Famous , etc. Summertime to the working class mean sweat and hard work.

How can Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Conservative's and Working Families want anything less for all Americans, than the enjoyment that they have in there lives?

Go sit out side, and people watch, look at the faces of all the people, the way they walk, the way they dress, look at the sky, the streets, the sidewalks, listen to the sounds, pay attention to all the tiny details. This is the reality of America.

    The Westchester Douche
  • I just looked out my window. I saw Jamaica Avenue in Queens. ....one of the most diverse places in the country.

I "people watch, look at the faces of all the people, the way they walk, the way they dress, look at the sky, the streets, the sidewalks, listen to the sounds, and pay attention to all the tiny details. This is the reality of America."

It is my reality, and where I'm about to eat lunch. In about 15 min, I will eat Salvadoran, Indian, Chinese or Italian .

...all of which will be prepared by folks who are likely not in this country legally. Most are being paid below minimum wage. Do I wish minimum wage laws were enforced? Yes.

Do I wish they would deport the approximately 25% of the New York City residents (i.e 2 million people) who are here illegally? Nope.

....I find that many native born Americans have lost the will to do manual labor, lost the intellect and drive to learn how to produce quality goods and services, and have a sense of entitlement that has caused this country to lose its standing in the world.

Ah, immigrants (be they documented or undocumented)! They are not only our past ...but they our present ....and our future. If we are ever going to compete in the world again, we are going to need hard working, skilled people. Sitting around complaining about how immigrants take the jobs of "americans" isn't helping yourself, or the country.

    I love the free market.

...If you find that you are losing coveted jobs to illegal immigrants, I encourage you to become more employable, take a Spanish Class or something.

...it sounds like you already know how to cook Italian food. :)
