Bird sounds (recorded, not by birds) on Carroll / Columbia
Does anyone else hear an incredibly loud audio track of loud bird sounds being played off someone's balcony? What in the world is that, and why is it so loud? I thought it was a car alarm at first. It's been three hours. It's now 5AM and it's been playing since 2AM.
It keeps waking me up and I don't know what to do. Should I call the police and say, "There's a very loud recording of birds that someone's playing outside their window at 5AM and I can't sleep."?
I have no idea what the appropriate response to this situation might be besides walking outside, trying to find the offending balcony, and egging the crap out of it. Help, please!

Last year I was walking home at night in Prospect Heights and thought I heard the same thing that you described in a tree. I thought why would someone put a loudspeaker of bird calls in a tree and play it late at night. Turns out it was a real mockingbird. It was super loud and some of its calls were electronic sounding.

Send him back over to Downing street. We miss him!!! He hasn't been her in awhile.
I have grown to love the mockingbird, but it took awhile. -
Darieus is right! That's not a recording! That's a mockingbird! They stay up all night singing to compete for a mate.

Ahhh, city wildlife!

There appear to be so many more birds singing and chirping in our back yard-area trees than I remember there ever being before.....I'm often awakened early in the morning (but more like sunrise) by the birds....anyone notice a similar proliferation? Just curious.
