    Not really- you should unplug the strip as well. I remember last year they mentioned unplugging everything that wasn't being used because even if the power's off there's still electricity going out to the device.

    No need to unplug the strip from the wall. That's the whole point of the switch - to shut off power to the strip.

  • Yeah - the unplug is for *direct* plugins not going through a power strip. The power strip turned off has the same effect as unplugging - which is why some folks put their ghost power TVs and other devices on a power strip in the first place.

    You could unplug the strip if you're concerned about a surge when the power comes back on or a lightning strike or something -- if the surge flips the surge protector on the strip...depending on the strip...you get the picture.

    Heard on the radio this morning that 1000 homes in Sunset Park had a power outage...
