Subject: No Fee listing
Excelsior Realty Services currently has a listing for a 2 bedroom apartment in Crown Heights in which does not charge a fee. A $60 application fee does apply, however that is after you have looked at the palce and actually decide to rent the apartment. If you have any questions please contact Excelsior Realty Services at (718)606-8774 or by email at [email protected]. -
Look at craigslist under "no brokers fee". I always list my park slope apartments there.
However, take into consideration that 1 out of 6 will be false ads (there will be a fee involved, it wont be in park slope, or the apartment will be much smaller then expected) -
definitely follow landlord's advice...
keep in mind that even though you may have found an apartment where the landlord pays the fee, the real estate market has changed considerably in the last few months. All of the landlords I work with have stopped paying the fee, and honestly, if you find one where the landlord hasn't, probably something is not right there, because there are enough people looking that they don't have to.
That doesn't mean you can't find an apartment through a landlord directly as in the post above... only that in the summer and particularly in this summer, where vacancies are at a 3 year low, it is going to be very difficult to find a decent apartment in a specific location at a decent price point without paying a fee.
Dermot Realty has park slope apartments and they advertise directly.
check out nybits.com for management company no fee listings.

Subject: No Fee realtor
We used Brick Brooklyn and got our apartment w/o a fee. It seems to be based more on the market than the realtor. Now that the rental market is picking up, the landlords don't want to pay the realtors like they were . . . but Brick Brooklyn was great. Avi is the owner and really went out of his way for my husband and I. -
I always rented out my own apts under owners section in cl. never had a problem, only times i had problems is those jerks from no fee places try to rent out my place. never a good experience.
