Mosquito spraying
I wish they would spray in Brooklyn. Right now I care less about the chemicals than I do about being eaten alive in my yard.

Anybody know why they are not doing Brooklyn, even though they already found West Nile cases here?

I sent a note to the DOHMH Commissioner asking for an explanation:

I filled out the form ~ Our yard also has too many mosquitos, eating me alive. I make sure there
isn't any standing water anywhere, no weeds for them to hide in and I put mosquito pellet in the bird bath -- still I find the population overwhelming. In fact, as I type this there is one flitting around the screen.
I have resorted to using those repellant sprays but find they don't help that much if at all.
I guess our biggest concern here in Brooklyn is "taking care" of the geese. I wonder if all the mosquitos
from The Bronx and Queens aren't flocking here to safe harbor??

I think if people start reporting seeing dead birds, they'll spray Brooklyn.

go for it
Seriously....I had a Glade clip-on on, sprayed myself with 15% DEET and a citronella candle on when I had to go outside and hack down some vines. I was bit probably 15-20 times in 30 minutes. The ONLY blessing is that these bites seem to fade pretty fast -
I wonder if the spraying in recent years led to the evolution of some kind of Supermosquito. Yesterday, I was outside for 10-15 minutes planting a window box, and was ASSAULTED by a swarm of mosquitos...I now have over 50 bites and look like I have some kind of pox.
Unfortunately, I don't think the city will spray just because we are being bitten too much, it would have to be out of concern for West Nile Virus. -
I predict dead birds in the area's future ;-)
There were already reported cases in BK, just not in this area.
Yesterday was HORRIBLE. I was just outside and my neighbors were talking about it too.
....but if you are so inclined, please to fill out form.
