ice cream in south slope
Hi,
I just moved to 7th Ave and 10th St a couple months ago, and several times while walking south on 7th ave I have passed people eating ice cream cones walking north (as though they just came from an ice cream shop south of 10th & 7th). They definitely weren't eating tasti delite or uncle louie g's and I haven't seen any other ice cream shops, despite having searched several times. This is beginning to drive me mad! Anyone know where these ice cream cones could be coming from? Thanks!

Not sure, but next time ask them. A little "ooooh, that looks good...where did you get it?" = mystery solved!

ha, somehow that hadn't occurred to me before, but i will definitely do that! thanks.

You can commonly find ice cream and ice cream cones at your local grocery store and in many bodegas. Hope this information is useful for you.

Ice cream truck? Van Leeuwen usually hangs around 7th Av.

I think this is the key. I live at 7th ave and 16th street, and hear the ice cream truck outside my window a few times a week at least. -
There is usually an ice cream truck outside the elementary school on 7th ave between Prospect ave and 18th st. In the 3 o'clock hour, people stroll north after picking up their kids, eating cones.
If your sightings happen around this time and often involve children, this could be the source. -
Astigmatism: are you referring to the regular, 9:30 pm ice cream truck that comes up 16th St every night? I always thought it was a thinly-veiled front for a drug dealing operation, but people come streaming out of their houses when it comes up the block. At 9:30pm!

Ha, too funny. But yeah, ice cream trucks have been busted doing this all over the country, so why not.

when I was in HS, two rich girls got their parents to pay for an ice cream truck route and all they did was ride around, get stoned and give out free ice cream.

You mean I've had a reliable drug-and-ice-cream dealer outside my apartment for four years, and I'm only learning about it a few days before I move out? Just my luck. -
^seriously! buy some weed, get hungry, buy some ice cream...it's genius (although maybe they are selling other stuff too)

Well, we just patronized the 9:30pm ice cream guy tonight for the first time. I'm hooked!

hooked on what, exactly? ;-)
seriously - if it's ice cream, what type? regular soft-serve or what's special about it (other than hitting the spot late at night)? -
I used to live on 18th and this guy would set up shop right outside my window every weekend night. Bugged me at the time but now I kinda miss it.
