Is there a Brooklynian for (gulp) New Jersey?
For all the usual, boring reasons - schools, rent, space, trees - we're picking up and moving from Park Slope to Montclair. I have lots of questions about the new area, but haven't been able to find anywhere online that might address them. Does anyone know, perhaps having done the reverse move themselves, if there's an equivalent to these lovely, wonderful, friendly message boards for Montclair and the surrounding area? I'd take a general Northern NJ board, but the only things I've found are nightmarish, racist zombie boards on NJ.com. Please tell me that, in addition to good pizza, beer and music, I'm leaving behind good internet forums too!

You are leaving good internet forums, too...

I don't know about a Brooklynian but BaristaNet is a great resource for NJ towns in what they call Baristaville

Looks good (more a top-down local journalism site though, not a post-your-own-topic community thing), but why is it named after a coffee bar attendant?

Probably a poor substitute, but what about the New Jersey "discussion forums" (fora) on Craigslist?

It's a mystery, I think they like to keep it that way! -

I'd ask the folks on JClist.com. That's specifically for jersey city, but they would know. (I consider JClist the Jersey City version of Brooklynian).
Montclair is very nice. There are a lot of nice restaurants there so you're not in nowheresville. If you like Indian, there's a good restaurant right across from the Whole Foods. -
Maybe the city-data forums? It probably doesn't qualify as brooklynian-like, but it could be useful.

I know there is one for Maplewood/South Orange - the include other towns like Milburn, maybe you can ask them for a Montclair type (be warned though - they are a tougher bunch than here).
