lost kitty? mr. tiny?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
i was just waiting for the bus at grand army plaza when a darling kitty walked by and flirted with my brother and me. he let us pet him, a long-haired tabby, and had a tag that said "mr. tiny." we tried to get the # on the tag but mr. tiny decided to keep walking toward flatbush, then he hopped up on the fencerail and jumped into that triangle of grass/trees.

mr. tiny has some matted hair, but was otherwise well and in good spirits... is he lost? and if he isn't, if you know the owner, would you tell him/her that their beloved kitty was wandering around grand army plaza in the dark and that this is dangerous?

thank you very much.

  • Poor Mr. Tiny. Go home, Tiny Boy!
  • i know, i was SO upset. he was too squirmy to get a look at the phone # or i'd have called it.

he is a beautiful cat... but i don't know what's worse: a lost cat, or a cat allowed to wander in that neighborhood?

by "that neighborhood" you mean prospect heights right? :D

no, smartypants, "that neighborhood" means next to both flatbush avenue and a notoriously dangerous giant traffic circle, both bus routes, and busy, even at 1 in the morning.
  • maybe you should post on CL in the pets section, too?
  • you may also want to call a few of the local vets/animal hospitals to alert them of the Mr. Tiny siting!
I hope he makes his little way home, poor fella!

Thanks for the clarification. Next time please write "dangerous intersection" when referring to dangerous intersections. Your last message suggested that Prospect Heights, currently known for its Caribbean culture, is no place for a nice cat to be. All of Brooklyn's neighborhoods deserve respect, not just Park Slope.

    are you f'ing kidding me?
  • Why assume she meant a slam on a Carribean neighborhood? Nobody is putting down an area because it's not PS.

How about a little bit of respect that she meant a bad neighborhood for little lost kitties?

Personally, I don't watch my wording SO carefully so that I'm certain to not offend somebody. It's not my attention to offend anybody, but when I write posts I'm not going to spend my time thinking "should I use this word or that word? This word might upset X and that word might upset Y". At least not for a post regarding a lost pet!

Now, if you want to start talking about an issue that is generally more sensitive (like race, politics or the co-op), a bit of extra care in posting might make more sense.

Just don't say "Greek" when you mean "Hellenic."

That pretty much sums it up for me
  • Any more Mr. Tiny sightings??

no... i'd hoped the owner would hear about all the posts i've placed everywhere (here, CL, etc) and would be in touch, but no. and i haven't seen any flyers about this particular cat.
  • they could be old people who dont know the net and such stuff.
  • possibly, but with such a sweet and friendly kitty you'd think someone, neighbors would know the cat's name.

then again, i don't let my cat go outside.

could be a house cat nobody saw and got out by accident. happens alot.
  • yes, but how many housecats have collars with their name and contact info on them? (i mean, yes, they should... but they generally don't)

    poor mr. tiny.

    poor mr. tiny.
i know some house cats that had that. people like to give their pets collars as accessories :P.
  • every time i put a collar in my kitty she walks backwards. very odd.
  • Maybe she thinks it's like a sparkly glove and is trying to moonwalk or something :P

Or she's just showing off her moves since she's all tarted up
