housecleaning service/luggage repair

Hi, all:

I am Mrs. Booklaw and I am "desperately seeking" 2 kinds of services. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated:

1. Has anyone used a cleaning service? My regular housekeeper has to be away for 2 months and I am looking for a recommendation for a service to fill in. I'm a little hesitant to just pick one from the yellow pages

2. Anyone know of someplace that can repair a luggage zipper? Lands End, where I bought it, no longer does repairs. I found a place listed on 5th Ave but the phone # is not in service.

Many thanks!

  • Shoemakers should be able to help with luggage.

as far as Lands End - they take anything back for any reason at anytime - so you can exchange it for a new piece of luggage.
  • I would recommend a young woman from Poland that works for me, lidia, pm me for her number if you're interested.
  • I used Today's Maid after a renovation. They sent 2 fabulous Hungarian women who worked so fast that they had time to do much more than I had contracted for. I paid a bit extra to have them bring all their own supplies and vacuum but I thought it was reasonably priced.
  • off 5 ave on 14 street is a shoemaker that has done repairs for me and hes very good
  • Thank you all. We've hired someone recommended by a poster on this board.
  • I have a wonderful, extremely trustworthy employee who cleans for me once a week. Her name is Ildiko and she is fantastic! If the person you hired does not work out, please feel free to contact me.

    Thank you!
