Michael Grim is a candidate for the GOP primary in the 13th Congressional district, which covers Staten Island and a bit of Brooklyn. It starts south of Borough Park, around 65th Street. See

Grimm did get the endorsement the other day from Sarah Palin. It's time for him to take down his ads from this site.
The Daily Beast thinks that this endorsement won't mean much for Grimm. See
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-07-29/sarah-palins-new-endorsement-michael-grimm/Daily Beast wrote: But Palin's support might not impress Staten Island voters. Before November, Grimm has a primary race against Michael Allegretti, and it’s Allegretti who has the establishment’s backing. He’s the choice of the Staten Island GOP and endorsed by a majority of Republican politicians of the borough. The SIGOP had some tough words when the decision was announced, stressing that it will be the voters of the district that will pick who wins the primary, not Palin.

Damn, if I were going to pick my own name "Mike Grimm" would be right up there with "Ace Hunter".
-
His opponent is not exactly a dream come true just because he's the Dem. Vote a write-in.

and why is he advertising so hare on THIS message board. How many people here are gonna make a donation because Sarah Palin says so.

Well, if it's a Staten Island position, mixed in with some Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst... -
white ethnics in those areas tend to vote for republicans.

Assuming you don't support his positions, isn't it _better_ that he wastes his campaign funds advertising on a site that will not reach his target audience? -

hmmm. We could increase his waste of money by actually clicking on the ad.
...but I fear this may result in the search engines concluding we are sympathetic to Republicans dumb enough to want a Palin endorsement. (please note that Republicans dumb enough to want a Palin endorsement, are a subset of the Republican party. They aren't all that dumb.)
So, it's really sort of a complex choice:
Waste their money VS endure more of their ads.
We have a few Republicans here. Maybe they'll help us out? -
I got a robocall from someone running for AG, setting up a campaign office on Fifth Ave
Which at least got me to look up who's running...

Nice hat. Is Mr. Grimm running for safari leader?
-
Another consideration is that by clicking on the ad the entity that gets the money is this message board.
In a sort of excellent way, it would be kind of the reverse of shopping at Target: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58662
When we shop there, they use some of our dollars to give to causes we don't like (i.e. crazy right wing gay hating metal bands).
However, when we click on Palin's big head or the canditate in the military Safari hat, we actually take money from a cause that some of us don't like (really dumb Republicans) and give it to a cause we do like ....this silly message board.
P.S. I respectfully request that we refrain from debating whether all Republican's are dumb, and simply agree that some are obviously much dumber that others. I know that I'm asking a lot of some of you, but I think you can do it. -
Mods, shouldn't this thread get moved to "Brooklyn Politics" in with Armchair Warrior's rants?
MOD NOTE: Word. -

Agreed, especially insofar as Palin is involved.
