Hi All,
Some words of advice from an old goat.

1. If you do not like the July heat in NY and surrounding area, do not consider moving full time to Florida. While we do not get any hotter then you (sometimes cooler in July & August) the high temps are with us (usually, not every year) from May through October. Summer is longer here.

2. To all Met fans: I have been a fan since their inception. Even saw them play in the Polo Grounds with Marvelous Marv and a bunch of cast offs from other teams. Best player they had was Richie Ashburn from the Phillies. Saw many games in Shea and even with Willie Mays. Tom Seaver & Jerry Koosman were my idols. The World Series was the epitome of enjoyment. The team now is made up of a bunch (not all of them) of mamby pambys who can't play if they have a hangnail. They are obviously poorly trained considering all the injuries and guys going on the DL. Being in an AL town and having lost some of my interest in the "Oh I can't play, I have a boo-boo Mets" I even root for the dreaded Yankees when they come to town. Did you know that Eddie Stanky with the Beloved Bums of Brooklyn, broke an ankle in a game and finished the game before having attended to. If Gil Hodges was Managing now he would kick a lot of the big babies the Mets have now off the field. One time Cleon Jones loafed after a ball in left field. Gil Went out to left and asked Jones if he was okay. Jones said yes and Hodges marched his best hitter off the field because he loafed. The Mets need some of that kind of a Manager NOW!

3. Note to Blog Manager. Can you put a sign in place on the bottom of the page?. Sometimes you see something you want to respond to near the bottom & you have to scroll all the ways to the top to sign in. Just a thought> 8)

Beautiful day - supposed to be nice tomorrow too! Maybe no ac tonight, have to think on that.

Debbie - I agree - anything over 80 is way to hot - give me the cold anyday. (Hope Kati's betterer and betterer!)

Warren - I loved Tom Seaver (#41) - I thought he was the greatest when I was young. My father took me a game at the Polo Grounds - don't remember much of it though.

Tom Terrific was just that Karen. I saw a game one night where Seaver was pitching for the Mets and Bob Gibson for the Cards. The fastballs were popping so hard in the catchers mitts you could here it all over Shea. I think the Mets won 1-0. Game only lasted about 2 hours. Jerry Koosman was almost as good and then came Ron Darling who now is an announcer. Those were the days. Jones, Agee, Swaboda in the outfield all made great catches. :roll:

ANTHONY....SARDINES??? I'M SO NOT A FISH EATER....LOL I GUESS I'LL GO WITH SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS.

Hi Guys...what a crazy week......and yes Anthony I have been reading, but it is so hard to get on in work, so I always say when I get home I will go on and then I either forget or am too lazy.

I did not get to the Mets parade but it was such a thrill in 69. After that bum O'Malley took my Dodgers to La-La-Land in 57 (while I was in the Army) I was heartened to see the team I rooted for in the Series much less winning it. I did get to the parade on Broadway for Gen. Douglas McArthur in I guess 50 or 51.

If it can be worked out we would love to meet you on your trip south. Oldmar, St Pete and Sun City Center would form a triangle so we could probably meet in the middle or you would be very welcome in our home. 8)

Helen, I am glad my words meant something to you. I have learned that when certain moods hit me and words start flowing I should write them down. I always hope that at least someone on the blog will find the words meaningful and helpful. God Bless and keep your spirits up. Remember we were all put here for a purpose. 8)
