but at least you seem to have enjoyed the cocktails
  • I haven't been to song in a few years, but when i went it was cheap and well nice :p.
  • Lot 2, if it counts as part of the slope. Used to like Applewood, but too uneven - some days it's very average (or more accurately, subpar for the price).
  • Blue Ribbon
    Blue Ribbon Sushi
Franny's (I guess this counts as the Slope?)
    Corner Burger
    Jpan Sushi

My wife would probably add al di la, Applewoods, and Enoteca.

Slope-accessible perhaps, but that's on the Prospect Heights side of Flatbush.
  • I think Al Di La is probably my favorite all-around place for your any-day go-to, I really like Bar Toto a lot.

    Some Notable Favorites:

    Applewood

    Moim

Thistle Hill Tavern (their chopped salad with cucumber coriander dressing is the tits)

    Fonda (very solid. Good Guac!)

    Canaille

    Convivium

    :wtf:
  • Raintree's.
  • Fornino! Fabulous brunch. Service was excellent. The place is beautiful. Can't wait to try dinner.
  • fornino looks like the inside of a generic restaurant in a suburban strip mall.

beautiful? really? to each his/her own.

the food is fine, but hardly ranking among the best in the neighborhood. pizza isn't anywhere as good as franny's. not even close.

Who said anything about Pizza? And sorry, I don't shop at malls but thanks for that input.

From the NY Times, a link you provided in March:

"The look will be strictly 2010: bare brick and light bulbs, distressed wood and old New York photos: "

Yeah, that screams suburban strip mall.
  • i was really hoping it was going to be a great place.

    it wasn't executed very well.

and yes, fornino is a pizza place. their website is:

    www.forninoPIZZA.com

it is the 2nd location and the first one (opened in 2004) in williamsburg is excellent.

unfortunately the park slope fornino isn't nearly as good. the decor is cheesy and the food at the other location is much better sadly.

hope it does well as it's a large space, but i am not eager to go back.
  • and the recent review of fornino park slope in last week's time out new york wasn't great:

A Park Slope homecoming brings disappointment—and grilled pizza.

You keep misreading what I write. I never said it wasn't a Pizza Place. I also never said I had Pizza when I went there. Jesus. We had Truffles and Eggs, Salmon Benedict w/ Caviar, Antipasti Platter, great bread, excellent Italian wines.

Sorry, I don't care about some lame reviewers experience. The 4 people who commented all disagreed with him. The reviewer commented about a Pizza place that still serves grilled pizza that's been closed for months. Check your facts before writing an article. That's what you get paid for.

Me neither. We left the place unimpressed, and with substantially lighter wallets. I was especially bummed at how little wine the waitress poured in our glasses when we ordered two glasses of wine, (RIP OFF!!!). The chickpea fritters, (which I expected to enjoy) were as bland as can be. The pizza was not bad, but not nearly as tasty and substantially more expensive than what's on offer across the street at La Villa.
  • I've eaten pizza at Fornino several times now, and I've had the pizza at Campo de Fiori twice. For what it's worth, I prefer Fornino's. It's got the thin, crispy crust I like the best. It's also got a bit more flavor going on, I think. Campo de Fiori's is quite good, though, and the staff are very friendly. Ultimately we're only talking about dough, cheese, and tomatoes... and if a restaurant makes the effort to use good examples of these three ingredients, there's no way the customer can lose. So I think people should lighten up about pizza.

One of our friends wasn't too happy with the wine pour either and I think the waitress saw his expression and came back and added more. The wine was excellent though. The same pour happened at Bar Toto's other place on 8th avenue.
Food, atmosphere and service make up for it though.
  • benchmark - short ribs benedict & responsibly raised meats

get fresh - delicious, fluffy pancakes & local, organic food
  • get fresh is awesome.

    love fonda too.
  • For a more intimate dinner and/or great happy hour: Fonda. If you haven't been you should check it out asap. Really friendly owner/manager (?) and amazing flavorful food. Happy Hour 5-7 M-F will get you $5 deceivingly strong and delicious Sangria in huge glasses (after 3 you'll be wasted) and $5 guac and a bunch of other stuff including $3 beers I think.

For a fun dinner: Bogota, hands down. Never a bad meal. And the Mocequa is to die for when its cold outside. Those new sauces they are bottling now and serving in the beginning with the plantain chips are tops too.

For lunch delivery: Press 195 because of their huge menu, consistently great sandwiches, delicious salads, etc. They need to bring back the lunch special though.

Also Bierkraft has great sandwiches for a quick low-maintenance stop off. Try the brisket.

After everyones done with all of this food talk I'd also like to recommend Pongo Power to put your asses back in shape :)
