  • Just thinking out loud, I would guess that there might be several options in areas like Bensonhurst and Sunset Park / Bay Ridge that have a large, strong base of Chinese residents.

You might have some luck calling the following for recommendations:

    Brooklyn Chinese-American Association (BCA)
    http://www.bca.net/eng/home.html

Their contacts page has a bunch of potentially helpful numbers for their various offices:
    http://www.bca.net/eng/contact.html

    Good luck!
  • Alternatively, if you are close enough to Queens, there's also a large Chinese community in Flushing.
  • or, one could go about it thru the NYC DOH.

    https://a816-healthpsi.nyc.gov/ChildCare/Search.do

Although "chinese" isn't among their search fields, once can search by neighborhood.

....as noted, one would expect (hope?) that a daycare located in an area with a large Chinese-american population would have some teachers and kids who speak Chinese. (some of the names of the agencies may also give hints)
  • One more resource:

    Families With Children From China
    http://www.fccny.org

They have a resources section and a message boards section where you might also post your question.
  • Try these guys They have been very helpful over the years.
    http://www.alsoknownas.org/organization/organization.html

The core is made up of teenage and young adults adopted from Asia. Although it started as a mentoring for Koreans it has expanded to include Chinese also.
They would have a more "insiders" sense of placing your kid in a immigrant school situation as opposed to (for lack of a better word) "American" school that might teach Chinese.
  • There are quite a few on Ft. Hamilton Parkway between 50-65th Street.
You might also like to see if there is a parents list serv for your neighborhood (i.e., Prospect Heights Parents, Bay Ridge Parents, etc.) on yahoo. Many parents will do Nanny shares or have more information about the day care/pre school process.

    Good luck
