I no longer have a car here, but when I did it sucked to have to move the car. This is an article about a new device in italy...maybe we'll see one here soon. No image, But I see a lot of damaged cars in the near future....

  • wont happen here, city needs to give out tickets ;).
  • Another interesting tidbid about Milan, from my short experience living there:

The pollution is so bad there (the city is located in a valley and no strong winds pass through), that they actually have 1 day a week when only cars with license plates ending with even or odd numbers are allowed to drive that day, and this alternates every week.

So for example, on thursday of one week, "odd" cars can be out on the road, next week only "even". From what I remember, if you're not supposed to drive that day, you're alright if you're carpooling - 3 ppl in a car - otherwise you get a fine if caught.

Helps not only with the smog, but also with congestion.

Wonder how that would work here if you've got a personalized plate on your HumVee that read POLLUTR or some such... :? "But I don't got no numbers on my plate officer."

yeah...if you own a hummer or such, you should automatically be enrolled in community service or something...or better yet, mandatory work at the food coop perhaps :)
  • the image reminded me of a letter from chief seattle to US president back in 1852....

"...This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself..."

Or in any case, a piece of text that is a quote from a 1972 rewriting of a 1960s version of an 1887 reminiscence by someone who was there in 1854 but didn't understand the language, of someone else's oral translation of a speech given in Chinook by the Chief who of course couldn't write florid English prose.
