S.O.S. Crown Heights Addresses Gun Violence THIS WEDNESDAY
FOUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SHOT ON THE CORNER OF FRANKLIN AVE. & LINCOLN PL. THIS YEAR. The latest victim was shot on August 7th at 3:30am.
A shooting response is a peaceful community gathering where a shooting incident took place. The purpose of the response is to express our concern and make a statement that killing is not acceptable in our community.

• Provide immediate interventions whenever a shooting occurs.
• Reach out to the victims, friends and family members.
• Work to ensure that retaliatory shootings do not take place.
• Create a community network of residents, clergy and business owners.

There was another shooting victim on Aug 8 at approx 6pm on the corner of St. John's and Brooklyn. When will your mobilization occur?

It is sad that such psychological first aid doesn't arrive until 72 hours later, and can't respond to every shooting in Brooklyn, but it is certainly better than nothing.
The methods being tried are backed up by the available research in the field. It's nice to see folks try to implement it despite budget constraints.

Perhaps needless to say, if left unaddressed, lots of "small events" (like shootings) have a as bad of an effect as a few big events (like natural disasters and terrorist attacks).
