The Annual Brooklynian Summer Picnic — Brooklynian

The Annual Brooklynian Summer Picnic

At some point, this miserable weather will break.

In prior years, folks have gone to Bear Mountain or simply to Prospect Park.

Will this happen this summer?

....or will we be disorganized slackers this year?

Discuss.

  • disorganized slackers!!! :alien: :jocolor: :geek: :king: :salut: :bounce:

If you do this, let's wait till it cools down, like REALLY cools down. Next month?
  • Next month would work.

....I think I'd lean toward Prospect Park.

We have to do some non-bar events to bring out the non-drinking newbies.

(I predict some of the regulars will just get drunk in the park)
  • Park? Bear Mountain? Man, why go places when I have a newly 'scaped back yard with grill, music and... stuff?

No, that was not an invite.

    Well, not to everyone.
  • ^ Have lamb chops, will travel.....
    :P
  • I can likely do a sunday in prospect park but unlikely to do a bear mountain trip. Or anything on a saturday without a lot of notice. I would love to attend, though, i miss yall.
  • I think its at WhyFi's house now.

    whoa hey whoa hey whoa!

I wouldn't think of derailing a school field trip, but we can certainly have a little get together at my place in addition to said trip.
  • so far interest in the field trip appears pretty limited.

The board has been really slow. Lots of folks might be on vacation, or may have decided to do actual work at their jobs instead of posting.
  • I'm around and am up for whatever is decided upon, whynot. It's been a while since I've made it to an event.
  • Sept sounds good. Park sounds easy. I'll watch the boards to see when etc...
  • I'm interested in either or both (I just got new hiking boots so maybe if we did Bear Mountain I'd be less pathetic than last time). The earlier in September the better for me, probably--before my schoolwork gets cooking again.
  • Giddy up! We also need to do another Smith Street crawl.
  • What if we latched on to this event at Greenwood Cemetary?

Seeing you and Dude dressed up as members of the Continental Army might just make it worth it.

  • Plus: We could totally kick British Nomad's butt.

Minus: Dude can't come to the cemetery unless I declare him a service animal.

Plus: Capt Picard aka Carmen could come b/c it is on a Sunday.

Minus: Even if I dress up, they probably won't let me use the cannon.

Well, esp if you bring everyone else!

Exactly. We may as well have this conversation on the next midnight ride/Facebook/etc. since it's only "us" showing here usually anyway
  • so true. ....the newbies must be scared of us.

    Or have lives.
Or work while they are at work.

...it could be any number of factors, really.
  • FWIW - when September and unemployment rolls around, I'm totally down with back yard lounging any time. "Tuesday at 10am?! Fuck - let's grill!"

I like the sound of this. Except for the unemployment part, of course.

I like the sound of this too. Employment be damned!
  • Pitu, do you keep odd work hours, like Carny? Heh - in any event, I'm down.. breakfast on the grill could be interesting...
  • I do. Late morning/middays often work for me. AND I have the bounty of the pork csa...
  • Oooooo... that's all the sweet-talkin' I need.
