where to get dance lessons? — Brooklynian

where to get dance lessons?

julierebecca
edited November -1 in Park Slope
i am looking for someone who could give some private dance lessons. I have absolutely no experience and am generally uncoordinated, but would like to find someone who could teach me how to dance to club music, hip-hop, whatever. does anyone know of someone who is maybe a professional dancer who might be interested in some more income on the side? is there a good studio around here for private lessons that's not outrageous?

  • Hi Julierebecca (which is it, btw, Julie or Rebecca?)!

I think the best way to "learn" how to dance to club or hip hop music is this:

Go to a nightclub in which club or hip hop music is played, and watch people dance. When you spot someone who you think is a particularly good dancer, approach that person and say, "Wow, you're a great dancer! I'd love to learn how to move like you - is there any chance you'd be willing to take a few minutes to show me some moves?"

If you approach the right person in this situation, you might end up not only being an awesome dancer, but falling in love with a terrific lovemaker!

Lovemaking and dancing aren't really so far apart, Julierebecca (which is it already?), so maybe what you're actually asking in this post is: Where can I find a good lovemaker?

If so, and you're an attractive woman under the age of, say, 42, I might be able to assist you further. Perhaps, though our lovemaking, we could inspire your dance moves!

Even if you're only a semi-attractive woman under the age of, say, 42, I might consider doing everything I can to improve your "dancing" abilities!
  • Hey what's wrong with women over 42??!!!
  • Oh goodness! I've really stepped in it this time. The truth is, I would also consider be lovermakers with a woman over the age of 42, though it might be a little intimidating because, and this is just a guess: Women over the age of 42 would know advanced lovemaking strategies that would leave me feeling unworthy.
  • There's also Dance Studio of Brooklyn on 3rd Avenue and 11th Street (run by my next door neighbor). And the Y does Zoomba classes, belly-dancing classes - really, any dance class will get you going and once you figure out how to move to a song, you can adapt to whatever environment you're in.
