Going to Hamptons Friday - Any Ideas? Sleep on the Beach?

Looking for tips for places to stay at this last minute and places to go for some good lobster roll. Been to LUNCH but had their fried oyster sandwich.

Will we get arrested if we pull off on one of the beaches and sleep in our car?

  • You will probably be hassled if you try to sleep on the beach. I can't think of a cheap place to stay. hither hills has a campgroung but it sells out months in advance.

there may some cheap hotels left

You cAn go to Atlantic beach to swim and park during then day for ten bucks. You could also go to napeague and park oN the road for free. There's no lofeguard tho and a woman drowned in a rip current last week.
  • Ps parking at Atlantic is only during the week if you don't hacve a permit. Dunno about Fridays. You can park in town in amagansett anw walk about a mile to the beach. go to Indian wells if you do. It's less crowded.

Can't think of anywhere you can sleep in car without cops giving you a hard time. I got thrown off the beach for ising a tripod.
  • American Hotel for the lobster roll. There is lots of areas that have signs saying no parking from 4am to 5am. a technique used to keep people from camping. You need a town permit in all other areas. DO NOT sleep in your car if you have had any liquor. They will arrest you..the police will be unable to define if you consumed the alcohol before or after you parked your vehicle for a night of sleep. There are almost no ATV's or trucks that come on the beach after @11-midnight on SHB. The problem is leaving your car..you may get a good night sleep only to return to find your car towed.
  • eat at The Dock House in Sag Harbor, you won't regret it!
