Read something very depressing today. Heard that the Northeast had a combined heat index (temperature plus the effect of humidity) of 110-115 degrees. Baghdad which has almost no humidity had a heat index of 111.

I think the heat generated by the IED's would dissipate very quickly by objects absorbing the engery when it gets blown apart. -
I did not sign up for living in El Azizia. I'm knocking on wood right now, hoping that what happened in Queens last week with Con Ed doesn't happen here. I feel bad for anyone who went through that. I've taken five showers withing 48 hours. I keep thinking about that old Twilight Zone episode in which the Earth heads towards the sun and temperatures keep climbing.

my faith in humanity is partially restored:
I had to wait around 10 mins for the B to show up this AM. during the wait my stomach started to hurt and I felt vaguely like throwing up. I figured this would all pass once I got on the nice air conditioned train. I got on the train and ... two stops later, once we were on the bridge, I was covered in sweat (literally dripping down my face) and my hands were shaking. I couldn't decide if I was going to pass out or throw up. I told the guy sitting next to me and he let me take his seat. I sat still for a bit, sipped on some water, and finally recovered (after my hands CRAMPED!!) around 34th street. now I'm sitting in my office sipping gatorade, but yeah - I'm really glad that guy gave me his seat - I was totally freaked out about asking but he was very nice about it. -

What I didn't count on was the fact that half the subway cars I get in don't have air conditioning.

I felt great on a bike ride this morning! Then again, it was probably shorter than most commutes, and I wouldn't want to show up at work as sweaty as I was when I got back home... -

Subject: Psycho runner's club
Where are my fellow nutjobs? I did a brisk 10.5 mile run in the early evening yesterday. Ok, it wasn't brisk.
I felt like a truck hit me once, and then backed up and ran over me again. But would I do it again? Hells fuckin yeah! -
I was at Jay Street waiting on the platform for 20 minutes for a C train to come duing the evening rush... as I was standing on the platform near dehydration I was dreaming of the nice air condition train....
So when it came... of course... the was no air...
